POSITION TITLE: Associate Director/ Director Biologics

POSITION SUMMARY:

Calibr-Skaggs is seeking exceptional candidates for the role of Associate Director or Director on our Biologics team who will help translate potentially transformative therapies into first-in-human clinical studies-a critical step to bringing new medicines to patients. Specifically, this position will be responsible for the development of a portfolio of biologics programs focused on immunology and oncology from concept to IND submission. Modalities of focus include monoclonal antibodies, Mult specific antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates, fusion proteins, and enzymes. The Associate Director will lead these programs in partnership with the protein sciences team and will work closely with our highly experienced translational team including pharmacology, toxicology, CMC (chemistry, manufacturing, and controls), and clinical groups. This Associate Director or Director will also work closely with other internal and external stakeholders to critically evaluate data, present programs, and review new opportunities. In addition, the Associate Director will have the opportunity to engage with other teams at Calibr-Skaggs including medicinal chemistry and cell biology groups to collaborate on a wide range of programs in infectious and neglected tropical diseases, metabolic disorders, neurological conditions, and other rare disease indications. The Associate Director will serve an integral role in Calibr-Skaggs' highly engaging and collaborative ecosystem developed within Scripps Research Institute and will be encouraged to engage in the seamless flow of ideas within and between the institutes. DUTIES & RESPOSNSIBILITIES:



  • Manage and lead a portfolio of biologics programs
  • Design, generate, and develop antibody-based programs
  • Evaluate, initiate, and develop projects through IND-enabling studies
  • Review, prepare, analyze, interpret, and present data to key stakeholders
  • Evaluate and stay on top of competitive landscape to strategically position programs for success
  • Critically evaluate new opportunities to initiate new programs
  • Author manuscripts and poster presentations to disseminate publicly
  • Author relevant IND sections for late-stage programs
  • Maintain budgets and timelines for programs within the portfolio
  • Manage FTE effort across programs within the portfolio


KEY COMPETENCIES:



  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills - including proficiency in scientific terminology and writing skills
  • Experience in antibody discovery research is important
  • Exceptional data analysis abilities, and proficiency with relevant software is expected
  • Good understanding of statistical principles and methods
  • Experience with GLP/GMP is helpful but not required
  • Adaptable / Flexible - willing and able to adjust to multiple demands and shift priorities as well as an ability to meet day-to-day challenges with confidence and professionalism
  • Proficient critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making skills and an exceptional commitment to quality


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Master's degree with 10+ years' experience or PhD with 6+ years' experience in industry
  • Must have industry experience in drug development / drug discovery


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position works in a laboratory environment. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.

COMPENSATION:

The expected hiring range for this multi-level position is $125,000 - $223,200 per year, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
