The Strategy & Investments team is on the front lines, ensuring that we are developing impactful forward-looking strategy and working with the most exciting music companies and technology startups. The Senior Director, Strategy & Initiatives position will work directly with executives in the Global Digital Business, including the President, to develop and effectively communicate the group's strategy, helping to set the overall strategic direction of the company with respect to its priorities and deal-making. The role will form a critical part of SME's Strategy & Investments team and predominantly focus on tracking industry developments, analyzing trends and identifying opportunities in the digital music landscape, as well as communication of insights and initiatives to key stakeholders and participation in the group's strategic projects.


What you'll do:

  • Set priorities for the Global Digital Business leadership, including developing topics and content for regular leadership meetings, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Serve as a central communication point across departments, partnering with Global Finance and Corporate Communications to align on key messages and priorities while supporting business planning for the Global Digital Business.
  • Communicate actionable insights to senior leadership by preparing and delivering executive-ready presentations, undertaking research and analysis, synthesizing complex market trends on the digital media landscape, and making strategic recommendations in a clear and visually effective format.
  • Enable leadership to track progress of key strategic initiatives throughout the year, including quarterly reporting on performance against priorities.
  • Develop and create compelling presentations for the group's senior management tailored to both internal and external audiences, including as part of Sony Music's cyclical strategic planning process and for board meetings, conferences, business review sessions, and meetings with key industry stakeholders, as well as generally preparing executives with research and data for these meetings
  • Organize internal communications within the Global Digital Business, including structuring and leading quarterly update sessions to keep all teams informed.
  • Develop strategic initiatives across business topics, ensuring alignment with the group's priorities and digital music trends, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and building consensus for execution.
  • Support Culture, People, and Operations projects related to the Global Digital Business.


Who you are:

  • Strong strategic thinker with a proven ability to structure complex business problems, synthesize key insights, and drive decision-making.
  • Exceptional ability to create and deliver compelling presentations, with strong storytelling, data visualization, and executive communication skills.
  • Exceptional research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret industry trends and develop forward-looking insights.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel, with deep attention to detail in crafting high-impact analyses and materials.
  • Self-starter with exceptional project management skills, attention to detail, and ability to progress multiple priorities and initiatives while ensuring timely execution.
  • Deeply interested in the future of music, particularly how it intersects with consumer and technology trends.
  • Ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels, managing relationships across multiple functions.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-impact environment, with an entrepreneurial mindset and a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
  • 4-year undergraduate degree required and MBA preferred (0-1 year post MBA)
  • 8-12 years of experience in a top-tier management consulting firm or comparable position in a digital media company
