POSITION SUMMARY

Mountain Camp Lead Counselors spend their day exploring the mountain with our 3 - 10 year old day campers. Lead counselors are responsible for creating engaging camp activities, keeping their group organized and supervised, and communicating effectively with co counselors, supervisor, and camper parents. This is a full-time summer seasonal position, compensated at $22.00/hour.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Provides a positive and encouraging camp environment
  • Must be willing to ensure a safe and compliant environment for children; follow designated protocol for reporting unsafe conditions
  • Must be able to walk, hike, sit and stand for extended periods as each specific activity requires
  • Plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate activities for campers
  • Organize activities around the resort with other departments such as CLIMB, Pickleball, or Golf
  • Maintain daily records on participants such as check in/out and which activities they attend
  • Ability to prioritize and adapt to changing needs of children
  • Must be comfortable supervising swimming and other water activities
  • Must be able to communicate effectively
  • Maintenance of camp spaces - preparing, cleaning and organizing before, during, and after the camp day
  • Must be willing to cover child care on an occasional basis
  • Additional duties as assigned


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:
  • High School diploma, or equivalent, required
  • College course work related to child development or education, preferred


Experience:
  • Experience working with kids between 3-10 years old
  • Previous camp counselor experience, preferred


QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be 18+ years of age
  • Knowledge of child development, theories, and practices
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Passion for Nature Based programming


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
