Maersk Warehousing and Distribution USA LLC handles end-to-end warehousing and distribution logistics needs utilizing our strategic network of storage facilities. Summary:

The Engineering Intern is responsible for assisting with warehouse layout and workflow design, analyzing customer data, and supporting the development of efficient systems. Some experience in drafting with AutoCAD is required. Experience with process simulations is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft current building layouts in AutoCAD of existing operations and sites. (Create 'As-builts')
  • Analyze customer data to draw conclusions and make design recommendations to achieve optimization of multiple metrics (i.e. Cost, efficiency, quality, safety)
  • Assist in analyzing and documenting existing processes to identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with team members to brainstorm constrained optimization problems.
  • Visit local sites to gather data and validate processes requirements with minimal supervision.
  • Assist process owners with research and evaluation of new technologies and methodologies, including process simulation tools.

Qualifications:

  • Ideally, applicant has exposure to time study and/or process improvement techniques.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; facilitates alternative solutions; works well in group problem-solving situations.
  • Approaches others in a tactful manner; reacts well under pressure; treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; accepts responsibility for own actions; follows through on commitments.
  • Excellent communication skills-written, verbal, and presentation.
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word.
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented, with excellent follow-through.
  • Goal-oriented and driven to succeed.

Preferred Skills:

Understanding of Lean principles or Six Sigma methodologies is advantageous.

Work Shift and Environment:

Essential duties and responsibilities will require on-site, in-person interactions.

Position is a member of Solution Design Engineering Team but may be required to perform in cross-functional teams for various projects.

Pay Range: $23-$27/hr

*The above stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for the position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws.
