Job Purpose
The Construction Manager Intern will support the planning, coordination, and execution of renewable energy and electrical construction projects. This role offers hands-on experience in managing construction activities with a focus on sustainable energy systems and electrical installations. The intern will work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Project Planning and Support
- Assist in developing project schedules, budgets, and resource plans for renewable energy and electrical projects.
- Participate in pre-construction activities, including site assessments and preparation of project documentation.
- Collaborate with the design team to review blueprints, schematics, and specifications for renewable and electrical systems.
Construction Oversight
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans, safety protocols, and quality standards.
- Support the supervision of subcontractors and vendors, ensuring timely delivery of materials and services.
- Assist in resolving on-site issues, including technical challenges related to electrical and renewable energy installations.
Technical Assistance
- Support the installation of renewable energy systems such as solar panels, wind turbines, and energy storage units.
- Assist with electrical system installation, including power distribution, transformers, and wiring.
- Perform basic calculations and analysis related to renewable energy output, electrical load, and efficiency.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of construction progress, including daily logs, material usage, and project milestones.
- Prepare reports and presentations on project status for internal and client review.
- Assist in ensuring all documentation complies with regulatory and environmental standards.
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure adherence to OSHA standards and other safety regulations during construction activities.
- Monitor compliance with renewable energy certifications and electrical codes (e.g., NEC, IEC).
Qualifications
Education: Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field. Skills:
- Basic knowledge of renewable energy systems (solar, wind, energy storage) and electrical systems.
- Familiarity with construction management tools (e.g., Procore, Primavera, or MS Project).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and design software (AutoCAD, Revit).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
