Description

The Recovery Manager, Special Asset Management oversees the day to day activities of a team that mitigates the delinquency and loss associated with defaulted accounts while providing excellent member service.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of high-performing and engaged employees through effective people leadership practices including regular communication of performance expectations and feedback to employees to maintain high team performance; provide coaching and corrective action as required; actively support employee professional growth and development
  • Manage a vendor group that includes third party collection agencies, external counsel and other service providers to ensure that they are performing in alignment with SLAs in partnership with Legal Affairs and Vendor Management
  • Prepare reporting and presentation materials for senior leadership highlighted department, product and vendor performance
  • Partner with attorneys and other vendors with creation of settlement and/or counter offers in court cases
  • Monitor changes in legal framework and regulations in partnership with Enterprise Governance and Legal Affairs; recommends policy and procedure adjustments to senior leadership and implements with specialists
  • Identify regulatory and legal risk, mitigating impact to First Tech through proactively updating and ensuring practices are aligned with requirements
  • Meet established department metrics; update leader on all major projects and goal progress; research, resolve and communicate operational and employee issues to leader or other business units as appropriate
  • Develop and maintain documentation for department practices and policies, updating as required
  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities
  • Appear as witness for any case requiring CU testimony
Experience and Education Requirement:
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or equivalent combined work and education experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in recovery and loss mitigation, contract restructuring or collections including default management within the financial services industry
  • Minimum one year experience managing a team of people
  • Minimum 2 years' experience providing legal support with general civil and small claims cases
  • Knowledge of the legal process including understanding civil and small claims processes
  • Broad knowledge of financial industry regulations such as Reg Z, FDCPA, FACTA, FCRA, SCRA and Federal Bankruptcy Code
  • Firm knowledge of real estate and consumer loan contracts and default clauses
  • Proven people management and development skills, adept at providing frequent and valuable performance feedback to develop and build employees
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to express ideas concisely and logically to all levels
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with multiple business units, leadership and vendors to achieve organizational goals
  • Ability to work well under pressure, handle multiple assignments and deliverables simultaneously with the flexibility to meet changing needs and demands
  • Proven ability to professionally handle sensitive documents
  • Proven skills and commitment in meeting or exceeding member expectations and requirements
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills; ability to resolve complex issues with minimal direction
  • Ability to foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Location: Hillsboro, OR 97124 (HYBRID)
Target Compensation in Hillsboro, OR:$75,000 - $90,000 annually + annual bonus
