Job Description

SEMCO - Laborer

Under general supervision, the Laborer works with and performs the same work as that of the "C" classification. The Laborer may perform other similar and related work within their classification.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Operates a Company vehicle and is responsible for inventory, maintenance, and safe operation.
  • Maintain a commercial driver's license as determined by the Company.
  • Complies with standard safety precautions necessary to ensure the safety of others and prevent lost-time accidents.
  • May be required to work in another department as needed.
  • Perform minor painting, cleaning of vehicles, and janitorial duties.
  • Operate and perform maintenance of power equipment for lawn care and snow removal.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Customer service orientation.
  • Possess a valid MI driver's license.
  • Ability to write legibly; operate a personal computer satisfactorily.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Possess the necessary physical abilities to perform the various job duties.

Physical Requirements

The successful candidate must be able to walk at least 10 miles per day in all weather conditions. Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, bend, crawl, kneel, walk, climb, push, pull, lift, carry 20-50 lbs., twist, reach above and below shoulder levels, and do fine finger movements. Must be able to work in climates of extreme cold/extreme heat. Potential exposure to stinging insects/insecticides and possible requirement to be in the Respirator Program

We offer a competitive hourly rate of $25.12 per hour for this role. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
