Job Title: Supervising Editor

Overview:

The Supervising Editor will oversee a team of video editors throughout the creation of digital videos from pre-production to final delivery. This role is essential to the success of Conde Nast's content by providing technical and creative guidance to ensure consistency, efficiency, and quality throughout the post-production process, while fostering and developing talent. This role will report to the Director, Post Production and work closely with Post Production Supervisors, Programming, and Production. Please note this is not an editing role.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of editors including senior, junior, and assistant editors working on content across a set of brands

  • Work closely with senior post management to determine staffing, talent, and resource needs based on projected/upcoming programming

  • Review cuts and projects regularly, providing technical and creative guidance to editors to ensure quality, efficiency, and series consistency

  • Attend project-specific pre-production and post-mortem meetings with Programming and Production

  • Assist senior post management, Programming, and Production Management with estimating post resources against new creative and how to creatively execute an idea in post

  • Consult with the Post Production Supervisors to determine editor assignments for a particular video or series based on editors' individual skills and strengths

  • Perform individual post-mortem meetings with editors to discuss the overall project, feedback, issues, and any learnings or efficiencies that can be improved moving forward

  • Work with senior management to guide editors' professional development, provide performance feedback, resolve performance issues, mentor, and maintain positive morale amongst the team

  • Approve color and sound mix before final delivery; if needed, coordinate a color/audio mixing session with the Post Production Supervisor

  • Responsible for enforcing procedures and best practices that video editors are to follow

  • Create and maintain series tag bibles

  • Maintain logs of reviews and feedback for each individual editor from Post Production and Production

  • Source and hire freelance editors as needed to accomplish increases in projected programming

  • Train and onboard new editors

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in combined post-production roles, ideally with past experience at a mid-to-large studio, media company, production company, or post facility

  • A significant background in video editing required, experience in digital content preferred

  • Extensive experience with Adobe CC applications

  • In-depth knowledge of overall post-production processes, workflows, and best practices

  • Experience managing a team

  • Strong leader with great communication skills; interested in mentoring

  • Must be proactive, well organized, and solution oriented

  • Ability to manage multiple people, projects, and initiatives simultaneously; adept at prioritizing and working under tight deadlines

  • Experience in other creative production roles a plus but not required

The expected base salary range for this position is from $125,000-$140,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.

In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates may also be eligible to receive discretionary bonus compensation.
