The Impact You Will Have

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota is hiring a Racial and Health Equity (RHE) Intern in Eagan, MN for Summer 2025. Our program runs approximately 40 hours per week, June through mid-August. In this role you will support the various workstreams of the EMBED pillar of the Center for Racial and Health Equity, CRHE and provide administrative support for the Director. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Racial and Health Equity, working on real-world projects that impact our business and clients.

This role is based in Eagan, MN and requires 2 days a week on site.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and assessment of the company's CRHE plans, Equity policy and Identify areas of challenge and opportunity, present recommended actions, and help facilitate the implementation of selected courses of action.

  • Utilize a variety of tools, including strategic assessments, inclusion best practices and benchmarking to align RHE plans and practices with Blue Cross corporate goals and objectives.

  • Assist in data analysis and benchmarking of RHE initiatives including language services.

  • Aid in the effort to market and communicate company HE strategies to internal and external customers and business partners.

  • Serve on project teams composed of individuals across the enterprise.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experiences:

  • We require interns to be enrolled in an educational program during the duration of the internship program.

  • Completed a minimum of sophomore year (4 semesters) by the start of the internship

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Community Health, Public Health or a related field.

  • Interested in a career in Community Health & Health Equity

  • Experience in working with diverse, cross-cultural groups

  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects, and to plan and timely deliver detailed work assignments.

  • Possess excellent organizational, written/verbal communication and presentation skills. Proven capacity to create and maintain positive working relationships at all levels of an organization.

  • Exercise strong and independent judgment and reasoning skills.

  • Maintain a high standard regarding personal performance and integrity.

  • Able to deal with confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner.

  • Facility to perform various duties, including, but not limited to word processing, filing, creation of spreadsheets, generation of reports, accurate and timely processing of data and the use of all forms of social media.

Preferred Skills and Experiences:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.

  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Prior internship or work experience in a RHE role.
