Cox Communications, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Manager, Product Management to lead its Cox Media Product team. As part of the Cox Media Product Management and Development Team, the Sr. Manager is responsible for comprehensive lifecycle management of the advertising products within Cox Media's local advertising portfolio. This role includes spearheading and leading all product efforts, managing a team of Product Managers, driving strategic initiatives to enhance product performance and market presence, the design and maintenance of processes for driving revenue on existing products, rolling out product enhancements, launching new products, and evaluating and potentially decommissioning underperforming products.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Strategic Vision and Thought Leadership:
    • Spearhead the development and execution of the product strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with Cox Media's overall business objectives; directs team to translate strategy into clear and defined business requirements.
    • Serves as champion for advertising product portfolio to obtain necessary executive sponsorship. Directly and indirectly influences others to garner needed resources and support.
    • Reviews and finalizes documented product vision to ensure alignment with customer needs, market and competitive trends and corporate strategy.
    • Act as a thought leader within the organization, driving innovation and continuous improvement in product management practices
    • Represent Cox Media at industry events, conferences, and forums to stay abreast of market trends and share insights with the team
  • Drive and oversee the development of business cases to support product and services roadmap investments, identifying opportunities to enhance the value of the portfolio and adjacent products
    • Accountable for the completion of advertising product development and launch projects and achievement of business objectives through planning, budgeting, resourcing, and monitoring accuracy of work, etc. Ensures success through adequate resourcing of initiatives
    • Manages and reviews allocated budgets and actual spend for product development and lifecycle activities across portfolio and make adjustments to budgets and forecasts as necessary for success.
    • Direct the prioritization of advertising product improvements and necessary resources across the product portfolio to optimize customer experience and strengthen financials
    • Recommend/make decisions regarding programs that have a significant impact to business outcomes and carry potential consequences if unsuccessful
  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Product Managers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance, results driven culture
    • Provides strong leadership, development, mentorship and business insights to advertising product development and management team
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and team performance
    • Regularly report on product performance, market trends, and strategic initiatives to senior leadership
    • Utilize data-driven insights to make informed decisions and recommendations for product enhancements and new opportunities
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with leader and senior leadership to align product initiatives with company goals and objectives
    • Interface with local, national and sales teams providing subject matter expertise on products and client strategy where applicable
    • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between Product Management, Sales, Marketing, Operations, and other departments to ensure cohesive product strategies and execution
    • Lead cross-departmental projects and initiatives that drive product success and organizational growth
  • Vendor management of third-party relationships ensuring a high level of accountability and customer service with continual evaluation of performance and relationship, including engaging with legal and supply chain partners on managing vendor contracts
    • Develop, evaluate, and maintain leading business relationships internally and externally with partners, peers, vendors to articulate our needs for products and services that help facilitate company goals.


Skills and Qualifications

Minimum

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (Marketing, Advertising or Business) and 8 years of experience required in related field (i.e., product development/management, media/advertising strategy and analysis, etc.). The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 6 years of experience; or a Ph.D. or Doctorate's degree and 3 years of experience; or 12 years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 3+ years of demonstrated leadership experience
  • Strong ability to work across departmental boundaries to drive toward common goals
  • Proven ability to develop detailed work plans and execute under pressure. Must be able to work independently and deliver measurable results
  • Must be a team-player and thrive in an environment that promotes strong individual skills that are easily applied to goals of the team and company
  • Self-starter with the ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced and sometime ambiguous environment, complete multiple tasks at one time, meet deadlines and self-recognize and adapt to priorities that change often
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organization, detail, problem-solving and follow-up skills. Exudes a professional image inside and outside the company
  • Ability to build and maintain constructive partnerships with diverse group of internal and external work groups
  • Shows commitment to self-development by demonstrated desire to learn new ways of doing business, staying abreast of competitors/industry major initiatives
  • Ability to influence people that don't report into the position
  • Strategic analysis and planning experience
  • Willingness to travel by car and/or air as needed


Preferred

  • 3+ years of experience in a management role or leading cross functional projects preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in a product or marketing strategy or analysis role
  • Project management / OMS software experience a plus.


USD 131,600.00 - 219,400.00 per year

Compensation:

Compensation includes a base salary of $131,600.00 - $219,400.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Benefits:

The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members.
