Position description

Junior/Assistant/Associate Specialist- Block Lab

The Department of Neurology seeks a highly motivated, dynamic individual for the position of Junior, Assistant or Associate Specialist. This individual will work under supervision of Dr Valerie Block, faculty in the Department of Neurology, and Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science. They will have the opportunity to contribute in various capacities to ongoing clinical translational research projects and clinical trials in the Block Lab. Lab projects have a focus on the use of wearables and neuro-technology in healthcare. The position will interface with ongoing ambulatory monitoring and gait assisted digital tools, as well as novel Wearables for the Bladder (WeB) studies. Interested applicants must have outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills, careful attention to detail and the capacity to communicate effectively regarding scientific concepts to both patients and clinicians. What you'll achieve: Under the supervision of the PI, conduct patient chart reviews, collect and enter patient data, and perform simple analyses and visualizations on patient data. Administrative functions and maintenance of records for specified projects Clinical coordination and interaction with patients in the WeB and gait Projects.

Required Qualifications:



  • Junior Specialist- A bachelor's degree (or equivalent degree) or at least four years of research experience.
  • Assistant Specialist- master's degree or a bachelor's degree with three or more years of research experience.
  • Associate Specialist- Master's degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of experience in the relevant specialization.
  • Candidates must meet the required qualifications at the time of appointment.
  • Candidate's CV must state qualifications or if pending upon submission.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Familiarity with clinical research including regulatory approvals is preferred.
  • Experience with electronic medical record systems (EPIC), REDCap, medical data collection and entry through patient chart reviews is preferred.
  • An ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while working with a diverse subject population is preferred.
