Job Description Job Title: VDC Lead Reports To: VDC Manager

Job Summary:

The VDC Lead is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day leadership of a VDC team, being the first point-of-contact for their team, and spearheading portions of large VDC projects.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Create, set-up, and manage design and construction models as necessary to build using Revit or other authoring software. Oversee and track model and drawing progress for multiple projects. Be the first point of contact for the VDC team's questions regarding technical, scope specific, or process questions. Review BIM execution plans, design drawings, specifications, contracts & contract documents to ensure compliance with contract terms. Review models and drawings for quality assurance/quality control in accordance with CAD/BIM standards, and project-specific requirements. Conduct performance reviews, including setting and tracking goals. Develop training materials, processes, and standards to meet IES and VDC team needs. Attend meetings and submit updates to management regarding project status and needs. Correspond regularly with internal project managers, general contractors and other subcontractors. Develop length and quantity take-offs utilizing various take-off software. Train new hires and mentor VDC Operator and Specialist staff. Other responsibilities as assigned.
Physical and Mental Requirements:

Must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional, and help create, develop, and implement project process improvement(s). Must promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients, and business partners. Must possess proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills, and the ability to effectively read, write, and give oral presentation(s). Must be able to work with different teams, stakeholders, and personalities in a fast-paced construction environment. Regular attendance is mandatory. Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements: High School diploma or GED required. Associate or bachelor's degree in drafting, construction management, computing, engineering technologies or a similar degree, is preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience with Revit, or other VDC software required. Minimum of 5 years of experience using Navisworks for visualization, coordination, and clash detection required. Minimum of 5 years of experience with Bluebeam Revu, or other PDF management software, required. Prior experience with electrical, controls systems or low voltage design is a plus. Must meet company minimum driving standards. Knowledge of construction, engineering, procurement, industry standards, and other project-related activities, their interfaces and interdependencies. Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications. Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Time management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and execute daily plans. Excellent written and oral communication. Excellent interpersonal skills. VDC Key Performance Indicators: Project Efficiency - Ensuring tasks are completed efficiently, minimizing waste and delays. Collaboration Effectiveness - Fostering seamless communication and coordination among project stakeholders. Data Accuracy - Guaranteeing the reliability and precision of information used in BIM models. Model Quality - Delivering accurate and comprehensive digital representations of construction projects. Clash Detection Rate - Identifying and resolving clashes or conflicts within the BIM model to prevent errors. On-time Delivery - Meeting project deadlines to maintain client satisfaction and project progress. Cost Savings - Maximizing financial efficiency by reducing unnecessary expenses throughout the project lifecycle. Role Specific Key Performance Indicators: Team's ability to adhere to current IES' VDC Standards and project-specific requirements. Team's ability to consistently complete projects on or under budget and deadline. Ability to effectively provide direction for the team to turn into Revit documentation.
