The Director of Capital Markets will lead the Capital Markets team in developing and implementing strategy, managing risk, driving sales and business development, and overseeing the execution and ongoing servicing of Capital Markets transactions. The scope of the role spans Debt Capital Markets, Derivatives, and International & Foreign Exchange offerings for both Commercial & Industrial (C&I) and Commercial Real Estate (CRE) clients. This includes loan syndications, corporate securities, and derivative hedging instruments to help customers manage interest rate and foreign exchange risk. The Director will coordinate cross-functional deal teams that include members of Relationship Management, Portfolio Management, and Credit Risk Management, ensuring seamless execution and optimal client outcomes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the Bank's Capital Markets group-including Debt Capital Markets, Derivatives, and International & Foreign Exchange-by maintaining a strong knowledge of market developments and trends, and by working with Executive Management to define and execute strategic initiatives.
- Propose and implement new areas of expansion within Capital Markets that drive incremental fee revenues within the Bank's defined risk tolerances.
- Build and maintain a leading business development platform by partnering with banking teams across the Bank's footprint and specialty lines on Capital Markets transactions, and by driving new business opportunities through active in-person marketing to clients and prospects.
- Use Salesforce to manage the sales process, oversee client engagements, and track the pipeline of prospective Capital Markets deals.
- Drive the management of unique credit, operational, and reputational risks within Capital Markets activities; ensure compliance with all Bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, and maintain updated policies for Capital Markets functions.
- Oversee the identification, structuring, pricing, marketing, origination, execution, closing, and ongoing servicing of debt-raising transactions, working with deal teams to structure syndicated loans and corporate financing solutions for C&I and CRE clients.
- Assist clients in managing interest rate and foreign exchange risk by providing derivatives and hedging solutions and work closely with internal stakeholders to structure and price these products effectively.
- Stay informed of the broader interest rate environment, syndicated loan market, and economic indicators; deliver regular updates and presentations to external clients, prospects, senior management, and credit risk partners.
- Serve as a leader for cross-functional deal teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and delivering optimal capital markets solutions for the Bank's clients.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 10 years of progressive experience in Capital Markets, Corporate Banking, Loan Syndications, or related areas, including experience leading teams and closing complex debt transactions.
- Expertise in syndicated lending, debt structuring, derivatives (interest rate & FX), and credit analysis.
- Proficiency with CRM software (Salesforce), financial modeling, market data platforms, and Microsoft Office.
- Proven track record of team leadership, strategic thinking, and successful business development.
- Excellent presentation skills-able to communicate complex market updates to diverse stakeholders.
- Collaborative mindset, able to build and maintain relationships across multiple internal and external teams.

- Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 20 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions.
