Microbiologist III

• Perform laboratory test procedures related to microbiology such as sample organism culture and media selection, organism isolation and identification, susceptibility testing, etc.
• Use laboratory equipment according to procedure
• Use independent judgment in reporting data and validating results
• Perform and document quality control and routine maintenance. This includes control selection for each procedure, documentation of control results.
• Control supply usage and assist in maintaining adequate stock
• Report results in a timely and concise fashion
• Assure specimen identity through the entire testing process
• Perform any duties and functions necessary to the efficient operation of the department
• Follow the policies and procedures of the laboratory department
• Verify test results before reporting
• Maintain effective working relationships with other staff members
• Communicate lab results with clients

• Bachelor's degree required in either a biological science such as Microbiology or Medical Technology Level.
• Certification as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist/Scientist by a recognized certifying agency such as ASMT, ASM, or ASCP.

• A minimum of 1 years work experience in clinical microbiology is required.
• Experience in working with and handling bio-hazardous and blood borne pathogens in a laboratory environment is required.
• Experience may be initially gained in fulfilling the clinical requirements to qualify for the registry examination and specialty certification.

*This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person's relevant experience and/or education level.
