Description
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Production Planner to join our manufacturing team at our Raeford, NC production plant where we made worsted wool dress uniform fabrics for all branches of the U.S. Military dress. This is a hands-on role working directly with the manufacturing team to coordinate production schedules, material allocation and inventory levels to efficiently produce and meet customer orders. This role requires a proactive individual with analytical skills and excellent communication skills to coordinate complicated production schedules across multiple manufacturing processes. You will also be a key liaison between manufacturing, division planning and customer service, ensuring that production runs smoothly and customer needs are met efficiently. Key Responsibilities:
- Production Scheduling: Develop and manage detailed production schedules across multiple production processes, ensuring timely completion of key components to ensure adequate WIP inventory to balance operations and meet delivery timelines.
- Raw Material Purchasing & Allocation: Coordinate raw material planning and manage the allocation of materials to meet production needs. Monitor inventory levels and plan production schedules to avoid shortages or excess stock.
- Inventory Management: Oversee and manage weekly cycle counts and inventory adjustments to ensure accurate stock levels and minimize discrepancies.
- Reporting & Documentation: Publish and maintain up-to-date "Lates Reports" for manufacturing and customer service, providing accurate information on production status, delays, and inventory levels.
- Liaison between Customer Service & Manufacturing: Serve as the primary point of contact between the manufacturing team, division planning team and customer service, ensuring clear communication regarding production status, customer orders, and delivery schedules.
- Team Coordination: Work closely with the manufacturing team to monitor production progress, troubleshoot issues, and make real-time adjustments to keep the operation running smoothly.
- Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and identify areas for improvement within the production process, working with cross-functional teams to implement solutions that enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in production planning within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of textile processes such as dyeing, yarn processing, and finishing helpful but not required.
- Proficiency in inventory management systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records.
- Hands-on approach with the ability to work directly with the manufacturing team on the shop floor.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ERP systems or other production management software.
- Background in vertical textile operations or a related manufacturing industry.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.
