Overview
Seeking a skilled Engineering Technician to support our Mechanical and Controls Engineering teams in the development, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of conveyor systems and material handling systems. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with mechanical systems, electrical controls, and automation components.
Responsibilities
Prototype Assembly, Testing, and Life Cycle Validation
- Build, assemble, and integrate mechanical and electrical components for conveyor and material
handling systems based on engineering drawings and schematics. - Set up and test mechanical, electrical, and controls systems to verify performance, functionality,
and safety compliance. - Conduct life cycle testing to evaluate durability, reliability, and long-term performance of
conveyor equipment. - Field Support and Troubleshooting
- Travel up to 50% to project sites for equipment troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with customers, engineers, and field technicians to identify root causes and
implement solutions. - Participate in on-site technical support and training for operators and maintenance teams. Engineering Support
- Collaborate with mechanical and controls engineers to provide feedback on designs and
suggest improvements. - Function as the first point of contact for Manufacturing, and other departments to address
engineering related questions, component issues, and process improvements. - Collaborate with production teams to ensure smooth integration of new designs into
manufacturing - Documentation and Quality
- Maintain accurate records of assembly, life cycle testing, troubleshooting, and field work.
- Ensure all work adheres to industry standards, safety regulations, and company guidelines.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for mechanical and electrical failures.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements
- Associate degree or technical certification in Mechanical Engineering (Technology), Electrical
Engineering (Technology), Mechatronics, or related experience. - Minimum 2 years in an engineering technician role, preferably in conveyor systems or material handling systems. Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements
- Proficiency in reading mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, PLC wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, pneumatics, motors, drives, and control systems.
- Experience with life cycle testing and performance validation of mechanical/electrical equipment.
- Familiarity with PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar) is a plus.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues efficiently.
- Knowledge of safety standards (OSHA, NEC, NFPA 79, UL, CE, etc.) is a plus.
- Ability to use hand and power tools and electrical testing equipment.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced results-oriented environment.
- Organizational skills to meet project plans and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, listening skills, and interpersonal skills.
- Team-oriented and collaborative.
