Overview:

We are looking for a Junior Counsel based in Stamford, Connecticut to lead various legal and compliance initiatives.

Reporting to the Senior Counsel, Legal Operational Affairs - this crucial role will partner with various stakeholders across the Beiersdorf business.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in legal topics related to company operations, product production, company initiatives.
  • Draft and negotiate a high volume of various operational contracts (e.g. supply and manufacturing agreements, IT/software, R&D, Quality, Finance, Human resources, etc.
  • Support Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM)system (database, policy, templates etc.) and ensure CLM system is meeting company requirements.
  • Support the contract library and any applicable contract databases, including uploading and tracking of documents, and backend support of the contract database.
  • Support compliance programs, train colleagues on legal and company policies when necessary, and track and report such compliance.
  • Localize, maintain, update and manage company policies as needed and support SOPs and other operational documents.
  • Support corporate housekeeping for Beiersdorf including but not limited to drafting and executing board consents, resolutions, minutes, and other corporate documents matters.
  • Assist with audits and other risk management initiatives.
  • Manage and support department budget, including tracking legal billing and invoicing.
  • Handling legal administrative task, back-office request, and coordinating for the legal dept.
  • Support other legal matters as needed.
Qualifications
  • Doctorate of Jurisprudence (J.D.) from an accredited law school/university required
  • A member, in good standing of a U.S. State Bar with the ability to practice law in Connecticut or Connecticut In-House Counsel bar
  • 2-4 years of experience as Legal Counsel in a similar position in the legal department of an international corporation or in an international business law firm
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Strong, clear, concise communication skills that can adapt based on the audience; comfort in communicating to internal clients at all levels of the organization
  • Experience with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a high volume of commercial contracts
  • Experience with advertising laws/regulations or intellectual property preferred is a plus
  • In-house counsel experience preferred
  • Positive team member and active contributor in a team environment
  • Experience with legal matters and legal framework in North America (US/Canada)
  • Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail, responsive and well organized
  • Must be flexible and open to handling administrative and back-office tasks
  • Must be able to work independently and in cooperation with others
  • The ability to travel domestically and internationally (<15%)
  • Relocation assistance is not available
