Under the supervision and guidance of the Director of Nursing, provides supportive services in the training and evaluation of nursing and medical assistant staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists with coordination of departmental and other meetings in order to ensure implementation of center policies and consistency with health center goals.
  • Builds positive relationships, inspires others to perform at a higher level, prepares career development plans and retains an accountable workforce.
  • Coaches and counsels staff and administers appropriate disciplinary action in a timely manner.
  • Ensures a continuing program of formal and informal education for Medical Assistant/Nursing staff. Conducts monthly nursing in-services.
  • Ensures appropriate complete documentation by nursing staff in all patient records and in all provider/nurse communications.
  • Fully versed in the functions, services and positions of FHCSD departments and programs that require nursing support.
  • Maximizes revenue and possesses excellent working knowledge of payor systems, billing and utilization review.
  • Other duties as assigned at the discretion of the Director of Nursing.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities and ensures appropriate Lean tools (i.e., 5S, A3) are deployed and results are evaluated and/or measured.
  • Provides accurate assessments of employee's skills and executes annual evaluations on schedule as requested by DON.
  • Provides effective counseling/guidance to employees. Administers corrective action promptly when needed.
  • Provides for coverage as needed for staff time off.
  • Provides leadership and supervision to all RN/ LVN Charge Nurses in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
  • Provides on-site support for Nursing/Medical Assistant staff with changes in work practices, new initiatives, policy changes, etc.
  • Provides support for orientation of new Nurses and Medical Assistants. Conducts 90-day competency assessments for new Nursing/Medical Assistant staff.
  • Provides/ensures staff receive all new hire and annual trainings on time.
  • Quality concepts, including infection control program, patient satisfaction, etc.
  • Represents organization at meetings as requested by CEO and/or DON when necessary.

Requirements:

  • Ability and means to travel as needed in a timely manner within San Diego County, to locations that may have limited access to public transportation; proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used is required. DRIVER REQUIREMENTS: Licensed for a minimum of 3 years; No more than 2 violations and/or accidents within 3 years; No vehicle related suspensions/reinstatements; No DUI, reckless or felony Driving with 7 years
  • Current American Heart Association healthcare provider CPR (BLS), or Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, or Advance Resuscitation Training.
  • Current California RN license required.
  • At least 1 year experience in health care industry is required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) capabilities strongly desired
  • Cultural and linguistic sensitivity to populations served.
  • Prior LVN or MA clinical experiences a plus.

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base range for this position, exclusive of fringe benefits.

72,973.33 - 85,973.33

If you are hired at Family Health Centers of San Diego, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to these factors - we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
