Overview (Scope of Role)

The Analytical Technician is responsible for the day to day laboratory support for the Midland Plastics Plant. This position ensures lab equipment is implemented, maintained, and calibrated to meet our quality requirements. They complete routine and non-routine laboratory testing, implement new methods, and ensure other plant personnel are properly trained on performing lab test. They assist the quality coordinator and help back up the QC role in a limited capacity.

This position will be based in Midland, MI



Responsibilities

    Maintain the lab in compliance with our ISO and IATF quality system certifications.
  • Perform non-routine and routine complex analyses.
  • Ensure the effective operation of analytical systems and the lab's adherence to Trinseo's Management Systems.
  • Ensure the lab equipment is maintained and calibrated as required by our management systems.
  • Write procedures for the use of laboratory equipment and train plant personnel on these tasks.
  • Assure the quality of analytical data provided to produce and release products.
  • Implement and verify performance of new equipment.
  • Implement projects and initiatives to meet plant and business objectives.
  • Backs up the Quality Coordinator in laboratory related matters.
  • Ensure laboratory facilities, analytical instruments and inventory are maintained in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Participates in the plant EH&S participation program.


Qualifications

  • Associates degree (or equivalent coursework) in technical curriculum or Significant relevant experience in the Analytical Technician Role.
  • 2+ years experience working in a lab environment.
  • Understanding of quality systems and use of laboratory equipment involved in polymer analysis.
  • Experience with Injection Molding, Charpy, Tensile, and Melt Flow Index is preferred.
  • Experienced in working with ISO audits and certifications
