JOB SUMMARY DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB

This position is responsible for defining, designing, deploying, documenting, troubleshooting, and maintaining test systems for Electrical and Electroacoustic groups to perform engineering evaluation and formal Design Verification Testing (DVT). These test systems include testing for acoustic, electrical, and electromagnetic metrics of hearing aids, accessories, raw components, and sub-systems. Additionally, working with design group engineers and technicians, this position is responsible for gathering and interpreting industry plus company standards, documenting test procedures, creating user-friendly test environments, executing Gauge R&R, and ensuring data integrity. Finally, this position may also support the design groups, research, and continuation groups in problem-solving issues, identifying problems and their root causes, and suggesting solutions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/RESULTS

Define, design, deploy, document, troubleshoot, and maintain test systems





    • Collect/research and document the needs and requirements of new and existing test systems
    • Evaluate off-the-shelf and design custom test fixture equipment for system integration
    • Design software and configure hardware to meet established requirements
    • Deploy new and upgrade existing systems to meet internal and external standards
    • Document system composition, theories of operation, and measurement uncertainties
    • Validate test software and hardware to ensure compliance with requirements
    • Troubleshoot software and hardware to ensure the system on-time meets hearing project schedules
    • Maintain test system obsolescence strategy and ensure backup solutions are available




Define, document, maintain, and deploy test system improvements for customers and end users





    • Maintain test system parity with hearing aid acoustic, electrical, and EMC industry standards
    • Create, peer review, validate, and release test standard operating procedures for each test system
    • Create calibration and preventative maintenance plans to ensure measured results are accurate and repeatable.
    • Plan, coordinate, analyze, and report out Six Sigma metrics (i.e. GR&R) of critical test systems
    • Train and support department staff on established test system setup and standard procedures
    • Ensure calibration and results data integrity through collection, storage, and retrieval




Continuously monitor, seek, and evaluate new improvement ideas for test systems





    • Regular audit of measurement outputs, environmental impacts, equipment health, and server status to prevent unexpected system failures.
    • Continuously research and implement ways to improve automated testing for accuracy, reduced test time or cost
    • Routinely review test system software and hardware usability with operators to ensure optimal engagement
    • Act as de facto point of contact to vet, articulate, and document emerging requests to ensure consistent communication with cross-functional partners
    • Create ad-hoc/informal scripts, user guides, and development builds to enable proof of concepts to new and existing test systems




Support product development, research, and continuation engineering teams





    • Provide technical assistance to greater RnD organization for problem-solving product-related risks, issues, or ideas.
    • Lead technicians to complete ad hoc tasks and projects as necessary
    • Interact with cross-functional engineers and technicians to improve and accelerate results





JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education





    • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Science Engineering or related field.




Experience





    • 1-3 years of relevant test design, development, and deployment experience in a product development environment required. OR Master of Science degree with no experience.

      • Troubleshooting of related test systems.
      • NET programming for automated electronic testing.
      • Computer-controlled test equipment.
      • Data statistical analysis and statistical process control.
      • Electronic measurement equipment.






Knowledge / Technical Requirements



  • General to intermediate knowledge of analog audio design, audio digital signal processing, and RF design.
  • General to intermediate knowledge of acoustics, vibration, and audio transducers (hearing aid design highly preferred).
  • General to intermediate knowledge of electro-acoustic and RF test equipment, methods and standards.
  • General to intermediate knowledge of signal generation and analysis.
  • General to intermediate proficiency with Python, C#, VB.NET.
  • General to intermediate proficiency in MSOffice (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio).

Salary and Other Compensation:

The target pay rate for this position is between $66,220 - $90,300 annually. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include: geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is eligible for a bonus based upon performance results. There is no guarantee of payout.
