Position Summary:

The Global Director of Material Planning and Logistics is a pivotal leadership role within Methode Electronics, responsible for overseeing and optimizing our global supply chain operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. This role requires a seasoned professional with a proven track record in supply chain management, particularly within the automotive and manufacturing sectors, and a strong background in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a results-oriented approach and will lead a multicultural, matrixed team across diverse geographic regions, requiring both strategic vision and hands-on leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and optimize global material planning and logistics strategies to support organizational goals, emphasizing efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma practices to enhance material planning and logistic processes and reduce waste.
  • Ensure compliance with a transportation industry standards and quality requirements, drawing on a robust understanding of transportation supply chain practices.
  • Utilize experience to evaluate the organization vs best practices (including with post COVID knowledge) as a basis to move Methode to a globally competitive position, inclusive of partnering with Strategic Sourcing to optimize TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).
  • Direct the execution of material planning and logistic initiatives in international regions, demonstrating a strong grasp of global supply chain dynamics.
  • Maintain and track performance metrics for material planning / inventory, logistics, administrative processes, and overall supply chain performance, focusing on best practices and industry standards.
  • Provide visionary leadership in a matrix organization, collaborating effectively across the organization to drive results with and through others.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative work environment by sharing technical and functional knowledge and encouraging a "true helper" mentality among team members.
  • Build and sustain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including cross-functional teams, suppliers, and logistics providers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Materials Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of domestic and international supply chain experience in a high-performance, results-driven organization.
  • Experience in the automotive industry with a deep understanding of supply chain and continuous improvement practices.
  • Operations as well as supply chain experience preferred with hands-on experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong leadership skills with a "roll up the sleeves" approach; able to thrive in fast-paced environments and tackle challenges head-on.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead with both quantitative and qualitative skills - analytical capability, problem solving and team development are all critical
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in a large, matrixed organization, with a strong track record of collaboration, influence, and results.
  • Proven integrity, empathy, and respect in interpersonal interactions, with a high level of professionalism and personal integrity.
  • Skilled in managing a multi-cultural team, with sensitivity to diverse perspectives and an inclusive leadership style.
  • Expertise in automotive scheduling tools and a strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally (25-40% travel, with heavy travel expected in the first year)

The base pay hiring rate expected for this position is $203,000 to $260,000.

This position is eligible to participate in an incentive plan.Metrics and level of participation are determined annually.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
