Job Overview:

The Hourly Manager, Visual Merchandising (HMVM) oversees and supports the Visual and Merchandising process in our store, balancing creativity with commerce to execute in store success. As the HMVM, you are the player peer coach, and will hire, train, develop and coach the performance of the Visual/Merchandising Team, ensuring they follow all visual merchandising standards. The HMVM role models a strong creative sense of fashion leadership balanced with an understanding of metric driven commerce. The VMHM is a role model and drives front of house planning in store to ensure that day in/day out fashion leadership, merchandise presentation techniques and promotional events calendar execution is consistent with corporate directives.

Essential Functions:

Build Together

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships and open lines of communication with Store Leadership, Store Associates, Central Visual, and Visual/Merchandising teams.
  • Cultivate a strong business partnership with Store and Regional leadership team partners
  • Empower visual and merchandising team to ensure aligned execution of all merchandise strategies, presentation standards and marketing campaigns.
  • Be a visible and responsive collaborator throughout store.
  • Source, interview and hire colleagues for their area to build a high functioning team.
  • Ensure that all newly hired Visual/Merchandising colleagues successfully complete all new hire training and orientation and are transitioned into Bloomingdale's culture.
  • Recognize performance above standard and celebrate with the individual and the team.
  • Promote an open door to welcome concerns from coworkers from all levels and positions.

Make Things Happen

  • Implement and deliver an outstanding environment of presentation and merchandising.
  • Working side by side with team, lead by example, providing regular feedback to Visual/Merchandising team colleagues; coaching behaviors and using performance management tools to drive results.
  • Train, administer and enforce all Visual and Merchandising standards, procedures, equipment usage, and safety criteria.
  • Utilizes promotional calendar to set priorities and meet deadlines for events.
  • Contributes to and attends weekly and daily workload planning meetings.
  • Participates in elements of profitability: shortage, productivity and adherence to audit standards as applicable to visual and merchandising operations.
  • Appropriately schedule self and staff to support the needs of the store and stay within budgeted hours.
  • Educate selling and support colleagues on key visual and merchandising techniques and standards presentations.

  • Inspire our customer and drive sales through fashion leadership and merchandise presentation.

  • In alignment with central marketing campaigns creates an exciting in store experience through innovative and animated techniques of visual presentation and lifestyle merchandising concepts and eventing.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 1-2 years direct experience

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to communicate and share information with diverse groups of customers and peers.
  • Resourceful self-starter, works well independently as well as part of a team, and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Must satisfy licensing requirements (as required by state or local jurisdiction).
  • Strong leadership profile.
  • Able to use and navigate multiple technological devices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple priorities and learn new procedures.

Work Hours:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality is required.
