* Base Pay Range: $59,322 - $96,762, based on experience

ABOUT THE JOB

Coordinate operating budget process including budget development, monitoring, and reporting for both accounting and budget systems. Leads the implementation of new or changes to existing information technology systems and process improvements. Performs complex financial analyses to support facility business planning and development and ensures financial reporting is in compliance with University, State, and Federal regulations, including grant and contract compliance.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

Develop and manage annual operating and/or capital budget for MUHC, working with internal and external constituents, utilizing the appropriate budget system. Provide annual training to managers.

Design, develop, maintain, and present executive and management level reports for monitoring and actual spending compared to the budget. Provide monthly updates to leadership on budget variances. Monitor variances and reallocation of resources from budget pools.

Oversee the daily/monthly review of budget variances to assure proper recording of operating revenues and expenses.

Provide budget and financial analysis support to financial leaders and managers throughout the organization. Understand and provide support to leaders and managers in understanding budget guidelines, standards and procedures for budget allocations, volume projections, expenditures, contracts, and revenues.

Monitor and evaluate operating budget and actual variances to ensure compliance, fiscal stewardship, and accurate reporting. Provide support to leaders and managers in understanding and use of a variety of financial and budget reporting resources.

Assist in analysis and management of transactions in accordance with University and MU Health Care policies and procedures.

Perform other accounting functions within controller's office, develops queries, and other reports as requested.

May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business.

Required Five (5) years of experience in financial reporting, fiscal management, or related work ensuring responsible budget allocations and expenditures; budget recommendations, and monitor/control of unit expenditures.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree or Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
