Senior Principal RF System Engineer for 5G mmWave Exempt: Yes As a Senior Principal RF System Engineer for 5G mmWave, you will be responsible for leading and contributing to the design, development, and optimization of cutting-edge mmWave RF systems for 5G base stations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including RFIC designers, antenna array engineers, modem system engineers, and software engineers, to ensure the successful deployment and performance of 5G mmWave base station. Key Responsibilities: * 5G mmWave Base Station System Design: Lead the end-to-end design, spec derivation and development of mmWave base station * Link Budget Analysis: Utilize MATLAB, ADS and spreadsheet analysis to perform link budget calculations for mmWave communication link, considering factors like path loss, fading, antenna gains, and noise figures. Optimize link budget parameters to achieve desired system performance. * RFIC Specs: Derive specs for RFIC device (including at interfaces and at block level) for best KPIs * Beamforming and Massive MIMO: Design and optimize beamforming antenna systems and massive MIMO configurations to enhance the coverage, capacity, and spectral efficiency of mmWave networks. * Communicate RFIC and system features and requirements with SW/FW and digital teams * Modulator and Demodulator Architecture: Contribute to the design and optimization of modulator and demodulator architectures for efficient data transmission and reception in mmWave systems. * Analog and Digital Filter Design: Develop and optimize analog and digital filters to meet the stringent requirements of mmWave link considering channel bandwidth and interference mitigation. * Testing and Validation: Plan and execute tests to validate the performance and reliability of the developed mmWave systems. Analyze test results and provide recommendations for improvements. * Research and Innovation: Stay abreast of the latest developments in 5G technology, mmWave communication, ORAN, 5G Layer 1 specifications and related fields. Leverage your expertise to propose and implement innovative solutions to enhance system performance. Requirements: * Educational Background: MS or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering with strong background in mmWave RF, signal processing, transmission lines and beamforming antennas. * Industry Experience: 15+ years of industry experience in RF system design, including 5+ years of experience in mmWave basestation, CPE, or UE design. * Technical Skills: Proficiency in 5GNR, 3GPP requirements. In-depth knowledge of beamforming antenna, massive MIMO, modulator and demodulator architectures, analog and digital filtering, impact of modulated waveforms on performance, conductive and OTA calibration * Team Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor teams, foster a collaborative work environment, and guide projects to successful completion. * Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
