Overview

The Medical Assitant provides primary support to the provider by proactively anticipating the provider needs, preparing the patient for the visit using established patient preparation guidelines, maintaining efficient patient flow, and assisting the provider with treatments and procedures. Provides support for clerical functions to include scheduling, referrals, and prior authorizations. Performs activities to maintain a clean, stocked, safe, and well-organized patient care environment. Provides in-basket support with the EMR.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Prior Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Successful completion of Presbyterian MA Advanced Skills Training within 12 months of hire.
  • BLS certification required at time of hire.


Responsibilities

Responsibilities and duties include:

  • Assists with procedures as determined by provider.
  • Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens.
  • Responsible for Kanban system for stocking exam and procedure rooms.
  • Provides support for clerical functions when needed to include scheduling, referral management, and prior authorizations.
  • Performs other duties as directed.
