ABOUT THE JOB

Manages the tax function including income and indirect tax compliance, audits, financial reporting, tax planning, unclaimed property, specialized agricultural reporting, and various business licenses. Develops and supervises tax personnel.

WHAT YOUR DAY WILL LOOK LIKE




  • Ensures timely and accurate preparation and filing of Federal, state and local income tax, sales tax, and property tax returns including preparation of supporting workpapers.
  • Maintains compliance and supporting workpapers for licensing and specialized agricultural reporting.
  • Manages audits including income tax, sales tax, property tax, specialized agricultural reporting, licensing and unclaimed property audits, defending filing positions and negotiating favorable resolution of proposed deficiencies with government agencies.
  • Coordinates preparation of quarterly estimate and extension calculations including payments.
  • Conducts research on various tax issues and assists in selected tax planning projects.
  • Manages and develops tax team members and directs the work flow of the tax department.
  • Establishes and maintains excellent working relationships with other departments and outside tax service providers and serves as the key point of contact for tax matters.
  • Prepares and maintains various reconciliations and analysis for tax accounting purposes.
  • Assists with the computation of the tax provision for income tax for affiliates ensuring that the company's tax provision and balance sheet tax accounts are properly stated in the financial statements including the preparation of the annual tax footnote, required supporting documentation, and collaboration with external financial statement auditor.
  • Prepares and maintains tax depreciation software, ensuring tax basis, lives, methods, etc. are accurate.
  • Assists with special projects including planning, research, and modeling of tax implications of special projects.
  • Provides excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.
  • Other work-related duties as assigned by leader.
  • Reliable and regular attendance is required.
  • Follows all company policies and procedures.



EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE




  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required. Masters of Business Taxation degree is a plus.
  • Eight years of experience in public accounting or private industry tax, preferably with a Big 4 Accounting Firm or large corporation tax department, is required.
  • Experience with federal and state income tax compliance and tax provision is required.
  • Two years of management/supervisory experience is required.
  • CPA preferred.



SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS



  • Working knowledge of Tax Provision Software (One Source) is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including proficiency with pivot tabled and V-Lookup Excel skills, is required.
  • Proficiency in Oracle is a plus.
  • Strong analytical aptitude with solid financial accounting skills and broad tax understanding and proficiency is required.
  • Ability to think and work independently, decisively and efficiently, in order to meet assigned deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and effectively balance priorities.
  • Highly motivated and quick learner.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.
  • Takes ownership of obtaining knowledge to perform responsibilities (IFRS, Accounting operations, and business/industry knowledge).
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and problem-solving abilities.
  • Travel by various means up to 10% of the time is required.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license is required to drive a company vehicle.
  • Ability to read, write and speak in English is required.

The work environment for this position is that of a typical office environment where the noise level is mostly quiet. This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, stand and sit. You may be occasionally required to lift or move up to 10 pounds.
