Senior Benefits Specialist

As a Senior Benefits Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and enhancing the hospital's employee benefits programs. You will provide expert guidance to employees, ensure compliance with benefits regulations, and lead strategic initiatives to optimize our benefits offerings.

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Senior Benefits Specialist

  • Hourly Pay Range: $32.60 - $48.90. The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

  • Location: Warrenville or Evanston, IL

  • Full Time/Part Time: Full Time

  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

  • Required Travel: travel to other Endeavor Health locations may be required

What you will do:

  • Overseeing the administration of the hospital's employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, wellness programs, and other voluntary benefits.

  • Ensuring accurate processing of benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations.

  • Serving as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries related to benefits.

  • Providing expert guidance and assistance to employees regarding plan options, coverage, and eligibility.

  • Resolving complex benefits-related issues.

  • Ensuring that benefits programs comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and ERISA.

  • Staying updated with changes in benefits laws and advising on necessary updates and compliance reporting.

  • Collaborating with HR leadership to develop and implement a comprehensive and competitive benefits strategy.

  • Evaluating current benefits offerings and make recommendations for enhancements and cost-effective changes.

  • Planning, coordinating, and leading the annual benefits open enrollment period, including communication, education, and enrollment processes.

  • Collaborating with benefit providers to ensure a seamless open enrollment experience for employees.

  • Managing relationships with benefits vendors, including health insurance providers, retirement plan administrators, and wellness program vendors.

  • Monitoring vendor performance and negotiate contracts as needed.

  • Overseeing the administration of employee leave programs, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, and other leave policies.

  • Ensuring proper documentation and compliance with leave regulations.

  • Developing and executing a comprehensive benefits communications strategy.

  • Creating and distributing benefits-related communications to employees, including newsletters, guides, presentations, and educational materials.

  • Maintaining accurate employee benefits records in the HRIS (Human Resources Information System) and other databases.

  • Generating advanced reports and analysis to inform decision-making and support strategic planning.

What you will need:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field, required.

  • Certification: n/a

  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in benefits administration and management, with a demonstrated record of accomplishment of leading benefits initiatives, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting required
