Description

The Institute of Human Nutrition is looking for a Lecturer/ Adjunct Faculty that will be teaching a three-credit epidemiology course during the fall term. The teaching commitment includes three hours of in-person teaching and one office hour per week. The position begins in the fall term of 2025. Standard faculty responsibilities will occur periodically throughout the year. Please refer to the job description line items for more details about faculty commitments.

1. Academic Responsibilities

a. Course Director for Epidemiology for Nutrionists in the Fall 2025

b. Attendance at all MS Faculty Meetings (1/month), MS Orientation, MS Program Activities and Seminars, MS Class Day

c. Weekly Office Hours and Review Sessions, as needed

2. Service

a. University and public service activities are also expected of faculty and you may be invited to participate in divisional, department and/or medical school committees.

b. Serve as an advisor to MS students, as needed

c. Serve as a MS thesis advisor for any MS student that is required to switch to a literature review-based thesis

d. Advise colleagues at CUIMC on study design, methods, as needed

3. Communication

a. Timely response to all MS program and IHN requests via email (including, but not limited to, syllabi deadlines, grade requests, and other information on students)

4. MS Program/IHN Responsibilities

a. Work with the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) to learn best practices in teaching, such as active learning

b. Work with MS faculty to develop list of emerging topics in Nutrition to incorporate into courses and seminars

c. Attendance at IHN Faculty Meetings, IHN Seminars, IHN Retreat

d. Participate in IHN CME development and teaching as requested

5. Scholarly Activity

a. Participation in Education Scholarship as requested


Qualifications

PhD in Epidemiology; Teaching Experience

Preferred: Research experience in nutrition and/or community nutrition
