Position Description Summary:
The George Washington Medical Faculty Associates' Department of Surgery ( MFA) is seeking a full-time faculty member for the Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Section. The MFA is an independent not-for-profit clinical practice group affiliated with the George Washington University. This non-tenure track appointment will be made at a rank (Assistant/Associate Professor) commensurate with experience. This position is expected to begin as early as Fall 2025.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
We are seeking to recruit a trauma/acute care surgeon with responsibilities to provide trauma, emergency general surgery, and ICU coverage primarily at the George Washington University Level 1 Trauma Center, but the position will also involve providing coverage at our new hospital, Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center. Other responsibilities include teaching fellows, residents and medical students and contributing to an active research program.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must be board-eligible or board-certified in general surgery and surgical critical care at the time of appointment. They must have demonstrated excellence in teaching as evidenced by teaching evaluations, in research as evidenced by scholarly publications or works in progress, and excellence in clinical care as evidenced by experience, fellowships, and references. Applicants must also be eligible for licensure in the District of Columbia and Virginia.
Advertised Salary: $350,000 - $400,000
