Role and Responsibilities:


The Kitchen Assistant supports the responsibilities of Kitchen Managers and the Assistant Managers with the tasks of facility prep and clean-up, kitchen tasks in preparation of home delivered meals, and as back-up driver for home delivered meals as needed.



  • Quickly and efficiently prepare food.

  • Read and understand labels and instructions, particularly regarding food safety and food hygiene.

  • Read senior center menu.

  • Serve lunch and dessert to all seniors.

  • Wash dishes, pots, and utensils.

  • Understand and follow all company policies, procedures, standards, specifications, and guidelines.

  • Comply with all federal, state, city, county, and municipal food safety and hygiene regulations.

  • Required to attend all mandatory meetings when scheduled.

  • Complete all opening and closing duties for assigned workstation.

  • Work as a cohesive, unified team and, filling in where needed to ensure efficient operations.


Qualifications:



  • Previous experience working in a restaurant or kitchen setting (Preferred)

  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices (Preferred)

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

  • Strong commitment to high level of service and quality standards.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Strong sense of urgency; self-directed.

  • Attention to detail

  • Ability read and understand labels and instructions, particularly regarding food safety and food hygiene procedures.



Physical Demands:



  • Spend extended hours on your feet.

  • Lift heavy items, such as boxes and pots.

  • Perform repetitive tasks, such as chopping, stirring, and plating.

  • Frequently bend, reach, and stretch to access ingredients and equipment.

  • Use hand tools and kitchen equipment effectively and safely.

  • Reasonable accommodations can be made.


Environmental Demands:



  • Work in a busy kitchen with high-pressure conditions.

  • Exposure to hot surfaces, ovens, and stoves.

  • Work in a noisy environment with sounds from equipment and cooking.

  • Maintain hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen.
