SummaryWe are looking for a high-energy, hands-on Production Supervisor who can manage a complex area with high mix and high volume of products. This leadership position has direct reports on all shifts (24/7), which requires excellent communication practices, including delegation. Periodically, you may need to work different hours to effectively lead your team. You must understand and be able to apply the theory of constraints in a fast-paced production environment.

Directs the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives. Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply. Plans and administers procedures. Makes budgetary recommendations regarding and, at higher levels, controls capital and budgeted expenditures and direct/indirect labor. Develops schedules based on manpower requirements for assigned areas. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Communicates daily with technical support groups to coordinate needed work and focus in the area. Job Description

OTHER SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS OR DUTIES

Performs all required management responsibilities including but not limited to: implementing the company's policies, programs, and guidelines; ensuring employee productivity and growth; managing resources; knowing Varex's business; and maintaining functional, technical, and external market awareness necessary for managing immediate organization. Assists manager in development of long-range plans as required. Scope of role may include interaction with other sites and operations. Performs a continuing review of safety considerations to minimize liability risk to company. Responsible for quality measure including scrap, warranty, DOA and avoidable errors.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND CERTIFICATIONS

Minimum Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability, competence, and confidence to lead people.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of operations finance, particular to direct and indirect labor and associated expenses
  • Knowledge with Lean Manufacturing

Required Certifications and Training

  • Obtains and completes LMS training plan specific to assigned responsibility.

Experience Level with Business Tools

  • Familiarity and working abilities with: Project Planning, charting and presentations
  • Proficient in utilizing business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired.

  • Provides direct supervision to production operators and other individual contributors and/or highly skilled non-exempt employees. Acts as advisor to unit and may become actively involved to meet schedules and resolve problems.

Typical Education and Experience

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent
  • 5 years of related experience.
  • One year of management experience or supervisory equivalent
