The Compensation and Forecasting Manager, reporting to the Director, Commercial Operations, is responsible for designing and managing compensation programs and forecasting models that align with the organization's business objectives. This dual-focus role combines expertise in compensation strategy with advanced forecasting skills to support performance, growth, and strategic planning. The manager works closely with leadership in Commercial Operations, HR, and Finance to ensure competitive, compliant, and data-driven programs that drive business success.

Responsibilities:

  • Compensation Strategy for Commercial Operations:
    • Design and implement competitive compensation plans tailored to sales and commercial teams, including base pay, commission, and incentive programs.
    • Ensure alignment between compensation programs and business objectives, such as revenue targets and market share goals.
    • Develop pay-for-performance strategies to drive sales team effectiveness.
  • Forecasting and Planning:
    • Build and maintain forecasting models to project revenue, product volumes, compensation costs, commission payouts, and incentive plan performance.
    • Analyze historical data and trends to forecast future workforce costs and identify risks or opportunities.
    • Provide predictive insights to support budgeting, resource allocation, and strategic decision-making.
  • Sales Incentive Design & Management:
    • Develop and manage sales incentive programs, including modeling, forecasting, and payout calculations.
    • Collaborate with sales leadership to refine commission structures and ensure alignment with evolving business needs.
    • Monitor and analyze incentive plan performance and recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Market Analysis & Benchmarking
    • Conduct market analysis to benchmark compensation for commercial roles against industry standards.
    • Ensure pay structures remain competitive and support the attraction and retention of top talent.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting:
    • Use advanced Excel functions and Tableau to analyze large datasets and create dashboards, visualizations, and reports.
    • Develop and automate forecasting tools to streamline processes and improve accuracy.
    • Provide insights to leadership on compensation trends, program effectiveness, and ROI.
  • Compliance & Reporting:
    • Ensure compensation programs comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Prepare reports and analytics for leadership to track compensation trends, program effectiveness, and ROI.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Partner with HR on job evaluations, promotions, and internal equity analyses.
    • Work closely with Finance to align budgets with compensation and forecasting initiatives.
    • Collaborate with Commercial Operations to integrate compensation and forecasting processes with overall operational strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in compensation management and forecasting, preferably in a sales or commercial organization.
  • Strong analytical and predictive modeling skills with expertise in forecasting techniques.
  • Expertise in sales incentive design, compensation benchmarking, and compliance requirements.
  • Technical proficiency in advanced Excel (e.g., pivot tables, macros, complex formulas) and Tableau (e.g., dashboard creation, data visualization)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across various levels of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a commercial or sales-driven organization.
  • Certification in Compensation Management (CCP) or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with CRM or sales performance management tools.
  • Experience with statistical modeling and predictive analytics tools (e.g., R, Python, or Power BI).
