Join our team at Schriever Space Force Base and support cutting-edge USSF operations as a Communications Engineer. This role focuses on designing, planning, and implementing advanced communication systems to integrate a cyber enclave, enabling mission-critical exercises and secure connectivity across multi-domain environments. Your expertise will directly enhance the effectiveness of USSF training and operational readiness. Pay: $149,000 - $162,750 Essential Duties Cyber Enclave Integration & Communication Systems Development
- Design, deploy, and maintain secure communication systems for USSF exercises, ensuring cyber personnel can seamlessly engage in exercises across multiple security levels.
- Configure and manage secure connections to transport systems like the Joint Information Operations Range (JIOR) and distributed exercise digital ranges.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to integrate communication systems within the cyber enclave, addressing all network and security requirements.
Network Risk Management & Compliance
- Identify and mitigate network performance and security risks to ensure robust communication capabilities during exercises.
- Conduct rigorous testing to validate systems' security, functionality, and compliance with USSF and government standards.
- Maintain thorough documentation of configurations, updates, challenges, and solutions for internal tracking and compliance purposes.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Technical Specifications Management
- Work closely with government stakeholders to define network integration requirements and ensure seamless system functionality during exercises.
- Define technical specifications, ensuring all communication systems adhere to mission requirements and operational goals.
- Continuously evaluate emerging technologies to improve the enclave's communication infrastructure.
Operational Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide on-site support for setup, teardown, testing, operation, and troubleshooting of equipment during exercises.
- Assist with day-to-day operational support to ensure exercise equipment and infrastructure remain fully functional.
- Ensure all network integration activities comply with industry best practices, government regulations, and cybersecurity standards.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 10+ years in DoD cyber-related organizations.
- Proven experience in military communication systems and secure network architecture.
- Demonstrated expertise in integrating cyber transport systems (e.g., JIOR) and distributed exercise digital ranges.
- Experience managing cyber ranges and digital environments in military/government settings.
- Proficiency with advanced cybersecurity tools to ensure system integrity and confidentiality.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, especially in high-pressure scenarios, ensuring minimal operational disruption.
- Knowledge of government regulations, cybersecurity standards, and best practices in communication infrastructure design.
- Experience documenting technical configurations and troubleshooting procedures.
- Certification: Current Security+ certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CompTIA Security+, or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
- Experience in multi-domain system integration, including space, cyber, and terrestrial communication systems.
- Recent experience (within the last 5 years) in planning, developing, and executing system and communication link designs for USSF or other military operations.
Education & Certification
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
Required Clearance
- Top Secret/SCI (Active clearance required)
Travel
- Limited travel (approximately 5-6 weeks per year).
