The faculty member of Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Rutgers
RWJMS will provide clinical services in the Division of Transfusion Medicine. The Division is responsible for Transfusion Medicine and Blood Banking services at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, the school's 650-bed tertiary care core teaching hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. Faculty will serve as a member of the multidisciplinary transfusion team at
RWJMS and
RWJUH; will be an active participant in the educational programs of the Department, including teaching medical students, residents, and will be expected to engage in productive research activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide transfusion medicine/blood banking services at medical schools, hospitals, and partners associated with Rutgers and RWJBarnabas Health.
- Provide specific services involving complex transfusion consultations, stem cell collection and infusion, cellular therapy adult and pediatric, apheresis and assistance for complex coagulation conditions.
- Collaborate with institutional leadership, physician partners, and nursing colleagues to ensure high quality care for patients in all settings.
- Provide unrestricted call coverage as needed by the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine of Rutgers RWJMS, at the discretion of the Chair of Pathology.
- Work collaboratively with the existing academic, administrative and clinical staff within the Department.
- Document and bill for provider activities accurately, appropriately, and in a timely manner, as required and according to employer's policies.
- Provide active participation in the teaching programs and attend conferences and grand rounds.
- Promote the program throughout the region and at national conferences.
- Participate in process/quality improvement in care delivery of patients and participate in quality initiatives of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
- Comply with all medical school and hospital medical staff bylaws.
- Understand and adhere to RBHS's compliance standards as they appear in RBHS's Corporate Compliance Policy and Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
- Keep abreast of all pertinent federal, state and RBHS regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
An MD, DO,
MBBS degree is required. Candidates must be licensed or qualified to obtain a license to practice medicine in New Jersey. Upon hire, must be eligible to obtain a
CDS and/or
DEA, if required. |
Certifications/Licenses |
Candidates must be board certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology, and board certified by the American Board of Pathology in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine. |
