Summary:

This position is responsible for installation, maintenance, and repair of analytical instrumentation as well as facility infrastructure throughout the laboratory. This person will be an integral part of the Facilities Team.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:



  • Assist the Facilities Manager in daily operations of the systems that support our facility including but not limited to industrial HVAC (fresh air and recirculating), electrical, plumbing, security, fire alarm system, ventilation systems and laboratory instrumentation
  • Monitor the safety and cleanliness of interior and exterior areas, such as labs, offices, conference rooms, and parking areas
  • Perform routine maintenance on facilities and make repairs as needed
  • Schedule and oversee routine inspections and emergency repairs with outside vendors
  • Prepare the facilities for changing weather conditions which includes supporting shut down prior to and start-up following any weather related event
  • Assist with capital improvement projects and supervision of contractors
  • Respond to health and safety concern(s)
  • Perform routine facility inspections and PMs
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Interface with outside contractors when necessary and ensure that work is performed by authorized vendors using approved methods.
  • Utilize knowledge of piping system operation and maintenance including hot and chilled water loops, vacuum, and gas distribution systems
  • Repair, modifies, and installs ductwork (PVC and metal, rigid and flexible) as needed
  • Support "on-call" needs outside normal business hours



Typical Education and Experience Required:



  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field is preferred or on the job training equivalent experience
  • 3 - 5 years of industrial service-related experience required



Knowledge Requirements:



  • Proficient with computer programs including Excel, Word, etc.
  • Experience with operating tools and specialized equipment including Digital Voltmeter
  • HVAC experience is a plus
  • Schematic reading
  • Familiarity in electronics, electrical, and mechanical areas
  • Working knowledge of a wide variety of specialized instrumentation/equipment
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks within a production environment
  • Work with laboratory personnel to solve issues/problems

Physical Requirements and Working Environment:

The physical demands outlined are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

This position may require constant standing, bending, lifting, finger/hand manipulation, lifting and carrying, and precise hand/eye coordination. Work is performed in a laboratory/warehouse setting which is subject to chemicals, and potential fumes, gasses, noxious odors and related items typical for this environment.

Safety equipment is provided, and use is mandatory.
