About This Role

As a Network Engineer at Verkada, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and managing our network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and security. You will be responsible for configuring and maintaining network hardware and software, troubleshooting network issues, and collaborating with other IT professionals to support our organization's goals. Your expertise in network protocols, security practices, and cutting-edge technologies will be essential in driving the success of our IT operations.

Our ideal candidate has a deep technical aptitude for Network operations, design and deployment for corporate environments with security and global scale as the foundation. This person understands the day-to-day aspects of an IT organization, especially in a global high-growth startup with ever-changing requirements.


Responsibilities:

  • Design, install, and maintain network systems, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Implement and enforce network security measures to protect against unauthorized access and cyber threats.
  • Collaborate with other IT team members to integrate network systems with other applications and systems.
  • Provide technical support and training to end-users as needed.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve our network infrastructure.
  • Developing analytics and dashboards to measure effectiveness of current environments and identify scale and value-creation opportunities.
  • Create and maintain standards, procedures, and documentation related to security and compliance requirements for broader corporate systems environments.
  • Participate in system audits and perform testing for disaster recovery or SOX controls, ensuring a secure processing environment that protects the integrity and availability of the managed systems.


Requirements:

  • 8+ years in Network engineering (Corporate IT) with proven experience on network design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
  • Experience with network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN appliances (e.g., Aruba Networks, Juniper Mist, Palo Alto Networks).
  • Proficiency in network security practices and technologies (e.g., IDS/IPS, NAC, SSL, IPsec).
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., Auvik, SolarWinds, Wireshark, Nagios).
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud networking (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl, Bash) for network automation.

  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.

Annual Pay Range

Below is the annual on-target earnings (OTE) range for full-time employees for this position, comprised of base compensation and commissions (if applicable).
