Pile Driver

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for operating pile drivers to drive pilings for retaining walls, bulkheads, and foundations of structures, such as buildings, bridges, and piers. The Pile Driver will work closely with the Foreman and other skilled or semi-skilled craft workers, as assigned by the Foreman to ensure successful completion of on-going or new marine construction projects. This position will be under the direct supervision of the Foreman

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Must be able to operate and trouble shoot pile driving equipment.
• Must be knowledgeable with how to plumb pipe pile, how to set up a template to drive pile and how to set up rigging to lift the pile or hammer.
• Maintains a clean job site, picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Actively participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.
• This position frequently requires work away from home at remote project locations for extended durations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent; minimum of three years related experience and/or training.
• Must have understanding of maintenance needs of the equipment * Knowledge of practices and trade and be capable of demonstrating proficiency to perform the job.
• Must have knowledge of operation of various types of marine equipment and devices.
• Must have ability to comply with safety rules and regulations * Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
• Must have ability to travel and work away from home at remote project locations for extended durations.
• Must have ability to obtain TWIC.
• Must have competencies: stress management/composure, teamwork, results driven.

PREFERRED SKILLS - PHYSICAL / MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation. The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses, life vest, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, personal flotation devices (PFD's), or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done. In addition, the Employee must also be capable of:

• Walking, stepping, climbing, or otherwise moving from one location on the job site to another, which may be of varying heights and access parameters.
• Standing, stooping, twisting, bending, crouching, kneeling, squatting, climbing, or sitting repetitively and/or for long periods of time.
• Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and back in performance of work.
• Must be able to lift and carry 30lbs individually. Anything greater than 30lbs and up to 60lbs will require additional lifting means.
• Must be able to push and pull at peak force of 150lbs.
• Climbing stairs and/or vertical ladders of a height of 6ft or greater.
• Working in confined work areas and/or elevated heights.
• Adapting to temperature changes, outdoor conditions, and prolonged exposure to dusty, wet, or humid conditions, loud noises, and vibration.
