Job Summary

Working closely with the Executive Vice President and COO, the Vice President -Supply Chain Management is responsible for optimizing key supply chain operational processes and systems. The VP develops policies and cost containment strategies to standardize key aspects of supply chain operations. Develops and implements continuous supply chain improvement efforts across department (short and long-term performance road map). Successfully, integrates supply chain services-align departmental strategies in support of organizational priorities. Establishes integration through the development of executive alignment. Assists in developing departmental goals, objectives, performance standards and priorities. Develops and fosters strong relationships with customers and end-users at the Executive level. Meets with end-users regularly to provide ongoing operational support and to determine future needs. Coordinates supply chain activities to include procurement, contracting and sourcing and logistics programs across the system. The VP provides administrative leadership and oversight to all aspects of the supply chain. In addition, works in partnership with the contract management office to ensure appropriate terms and conditions and key performance indicators are being adhered. Responsibilities include the analytic review and support of Value Analysis activities to ensure cost effective and efficient delivery of medical surgical supplies, capital equipment, clinical preference supplies and purchased services. Develops partner relationships with key vendors, manufacturers and group purchasing organizations to improve quality and efficiency of the overall supply chain. Oversees the administrative supervision, management, and effectiveness of the overall daily supply chain operations to include direct oversight and leadership of multiple System level Supply Chain Directors, Managers, and staff.

Essential Functions

  • Demonstrates knowledge of all Supply Chain Associate Level functions and responsibilities at an advanced level while being able to be a mentor/precept to the staff.

  • Works collaboratively with medical staff and supply chain leadership to develop and maintain programs and process designed to ensure compliance of service delivery standards. Reviews and improves standards on an on- going basis.

  • Serves on intradepartmental and interdepartmental committees related to organizational objectives. Seek opportunities to promote the vision, mission and value of the organization by serving in leadership positions on relations committees.

  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects safe, honest, ethical, and professional behavior.

  • Conducts inspections of the hospital facilities to assure uninterrupted flow of supplies and other responsible items to departments and to ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.

  • Produces high levels of employee satisfaction through cross-training, inter-departmental promotions, ongoing career planning, motivation and communication to staff thereby increasing productivity and reducing departmental turn over.

  • Provides professional support to supply chain leadership; serve as a resource to enhance revenue, achieve optimal utilization and reduce costs. Trains the associates to be knowledgeable in all supply chain related functions including customer service and efficient, productive methods of completing their tasks.

  • Establishes, implements, and supervise programs to document the proper handling of requisitions, orders, receipt and storage of stock. Ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained and communicate with customers regarding stocking, ordering and deliveries.

  • Directs assigned staff in the attainment of performance standards and evaluate performance; responsible for hiring, training, coaching, provide corrective actions when necessary and other related personnel actions.

  • Matches associate schedules to customer needs, utilizing metrics to support decisions. Apportions workload equitably between supply chain associates. Benchmark performance measure to track trends and needs for improvement.

Minimum Requirements

  • Knowledge of hospital management and policy administration, as well as development and implementation of budgets, financial strategies and standards normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Degree.

  • Master's Degree preferred.

  • Experience - Minimum of 5 years' supply chain leadership experience in a healthcare setting and at least 10 years total supply chain experience
