Who we are looking for:

We are currently searching for a Sr. Human Resources Generalist to be based out of our Electrical Cable & Flexible Conduit facility in New Bedford, MA. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Sr. HR Generalist will lead and execute talent acquisition, employee/labor relations and lead various human resources projects and processes. This person will collaborate with their local client group to help shape and implement the overall business strategy.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or related field, and a minimum of 5 years human resources experience. Labor relations/union experience strongly preferred. Experience working in a lean manufacturing, business system-based company environment is preferred.

What you'll do:



  • Function as a strategic business partner to all employee groups in creating and leading HR solutions.
  • Provide HR support in new initiative rollouts in the form of innovative ideas, communication, change management, and thought partnership.
  • Provide coaching to managers and supervisors regarding employee relations, difficult conversations, and process improvements.
  • Perform advanced employee relations functions including support and counseling related to conflicts, dispute resolution, managing employee performance issues, review and assessment of suspension and termination requests while balancing employee advocacy and business operating needs.
  • Manage the talent acquisition and retention process to achieve hiring and retention goals.
  • Conduct workplace investigations and report out on findings as needed.
  • Report out on HR metrics and prepare presentations as required.
  • Drive Engagement and Alignment (cultural) initiatives for the facility.
  • Maintain affirmative action program; prepare EEO-1 report annually; maintain other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
  • Promote Diversity Equity and Inclusion and Engagement and Alignment positive employee relations throughout the workplace.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of federal and state employment law and compliance requirements, and ensure organizational compliance.
  • Assist in developing new policies, procedures, programs, and initiatives to meet business needs.


What you'll bring:



  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • 5 years of relevant human resources experience required.
  • Labor relations/union experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience recruiting hourly and salaried employees preferred.
  • Bilingual abilities, both written and verbal preferred.
  • PHR or SPHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
  • Experience working in a multi-site, lean manufacturing, business system-based company environment preferred
  • Experience with UKG is a plus.
  • Excellent active listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, time management, and organization.
  • Responsive nature with strong sense of urgency to manage matters quickly.
  • Knowledge of EEO, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, OSHA, Workers Compensation, DOL and other related Federal & State laws.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to effectively problem solve; ability to understand and analyze data to make decisions.

Within 3 months, you'll:



  • Complete your Atkore onboarding and immersion program, focusing on understanding Atkore's culture, the Atkore Business System, and building relationships across your client groups and the Atkore HR community.
  • Understand how your job impacts Atkore and how your objectives align with Atkore's strategic priorities.
  • Have a general understanding of the Sr HR Generalist role at Atkore and be gradually delivering value to your client groups.


Within 6 months, you'll:



  • Be leading the full-cycle recruitment process for the openings in the groups you support through a new hires' onboarding and immersion experience.
  • Have established strong working relationships with the leadership team you support, built rapport with employees across your client group.
  • Be a valued peer across the Atkore HR community.
  • Be familiar with all daily and other responsibilities of an Sr HR Generalist at Atkore and performing with minimal oversight.


Within 12 months, you'll:



  • Have established a reputation for yourself as a reliable and indispensable member of the HR community and top talent for Atkore.
  • Be relied on by your client groups as a value thought partner for all people-related issues.
  • Be sought-after across the broader HR team for your talent, work product, enthusiasm, and reliability.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $83,760 - $115,170. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
