GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Supervise the M&R activities related to daily gate inspections and reporting good order equipment, damaged equipment and equipment needing repairs or programmed services, equipment repaired on/off terminal and refrigeration repairs performed on terminal and off terminal, evaluating all equipment and determine where repairs or programmed services will be performed and how they will be billed, in order to schedule, approve all repairs and verifies proper repair procedures have been followed.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION:

Inspect damaged equipment, coordinate and determine repairs and maintenance, establish deadlines, determine schedules, evaluate bids from vendors, and approve estimates to assure the effectiveness and efficiency of repair and monitor quality, cost, and turn time of the equipment.

Evaluate the repaired equipment and ensure M&R work is completed correctly and in a timely manner. Perform inspections on recently maintained/repaired equipment to assure the quality of the maintenance and the operating condition of the equipment.

Schedule repairs and programmed services and delegate M&R activities to the team. Monitor the maintenance and repair of units to assure and monitor deadlines for all terminal repairs and verify deadlines for equipment reports daily.

Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulatory agencies, manufacturer recommendations, and company and agency policies on all equipment maintained and repaired. Maintain all files for the regulatory bodies.

Process damage claims and invoicing for Equipment accidents & damages produced by vessel operation, Port Administrator, or Trucking companies.

Maintain Accuracy on Accident and Damage reports and database, follow up with insurance companies, and recoveries for equipment damage.

Control and monitor inventory to ensure the availability of proper inventories of tools, supplies, and parts. Receive parts and compare them with system purchase orders and actual inventory.

Ensure that ROAs and all pertinent documentation on repairs and services done off the terminal are completed promptly and forwarded for input in the HP EMMS system.

Review and approve all invoices and work with the M&R Coordinator to maintain records and accounts payable and receivable systems.

Participate in special projects as required, in order to recommend/improve M&R initiatives.

Provide pricing of refrigeration parts to the equipment control department for 3rd party trucker invoicing.

Work with the M&R Manager to download reefer history and report to the Terminal Manager, Operations Superintendent, and Quality Control to advise of any equipment issues that may have contributed to the QC problem with cargo.

Work with M&R and other departments, providing information and solutions for equipment on deadline; report issues on the Terminal tracking system, Dynamic 365, Tranship, etc.

Communication with other departments using walkie-talkie, emails, and phone.

Additional duties as required.

Able to bend down and lift 50 pounds.

Able to work in outside elements when required.

  • Purchase tools/materials/parts in order to repair the equipment. Does interrogation and claims follow up. Files all warranties, establish and monitor confidential purchasing agreements for performance to the agreement and enforce penalties when agreements are not met.



WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to travel to manufacturer facilities, repair vendors and overnight meeting

Availability to work overtime, weekends, rotating shifts preferred/required.

Required Experience

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION:

Technical knowledge in the field of transport equipment, with emphasis on chassis repairs, diesel engines, power generator, chassis and container construction.

Knowledge of Port Equipment, Mechanical and Electrical background required.

Computer experience, proficient with MS Word, Excel and Power Point required.

Ability to obtain a TWIC.
