Starting Pay: $12.62

Job Objective:

As the Security Monitor you will be responsible to protect The Salvation Army Women and Children's Center's property, residents, and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment ensuring that the Mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out.

• Complete hourly rounds of the main shelter building, domestic violence program building, parking areas, green spaces, etc. completing required documentation.
• Monitor surveillance system, following up on questionable activities or circumstances.
• Cover Intake area during break periods of Advocacy staff.
• Assist janitorial staff as needed.
• Other tasks as assigned by leadership.

Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.

Experience: Experience dealing with culturally diverse individuals preferred.

Certifications: Must have a valid driver's license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver's qualification standard; must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 90 days of employment.

Skills/Abilities:

• Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems
• Critical thinking skills, ability to remain calm when an individual is angry.

Physical Requirements Include:

• Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity
• Lifting, pulling and pushing of materials up to 50 pounds
• May require bending, squatting, walking
• May require standing for extended periods

Travel: Position may require occasional travel for training

Working Conditions: Work will be performed both inside and outside the building. Position is part-time, requires weekend and evening work.
