Position Summary: The Assistant Director of Clinical Documentation Excellence plays a pivotal role in supporting the Director of Clinical Documentation Excellence, providing leadership, guidance, and mentorship to their team. This role will help create a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous quality improvement, aimed at enhancing clinical data's quality and accuracy. The Assistant Director will collaborate with various stakeholders, providing a high level of communication with Executive Leadership as well as clinical staff. The Assistant Director will supervise and direct the Manager's daily operations, ensuring adherence to departmental goals, staff performance and collaboration strategies for optimizing departmental operations. The Assistant Director will serve as a liaison and point of contact for the administrators, physicians, and clinical support personnel regarding data operations, compliance, and support of safety and quality endeavors. Additional responsibilities as assigned. This role reports to the Director of Clinical Documentation Excellence.

Education:





  • Requires successful completion of:

    a) Baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited school of Nursing OR

    b) requires successful completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program, OR

    c) successful completion of the academic requirements of Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM) Master's Degree preferred.





Required Licensure Certification, etc.:





  • Required to maintain their certification as a Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS via ACDIS) or Certified Documentation Integrity Practitioner (CDIP via AHIMA).

    RN: Must possess current licensure to practice as RN in State of Maryland or another state that participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact and must possess Clinical Documentation Certification through the Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists (ACDIS) and/or American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)

    PA: Must possess current licensure to practice as a PA by the Maryland Board of Physicians. Board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Must possess clinical documentation certification through the Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists (ACDIS) and/or American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)

    RHIA: Must possess clinical documentation certification through the Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists (ACDIS) and/or American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and be a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).





Work Experience:





  • Management: 7+ years of progressive responsible related experience, including 2+ years in a management capacity

    RN: Requires a minimum of 3 years Registered Nurse clinical experience in similarly complex acute care setting. Minimum of 5 years as a Clinical Documentation Specialist preferred. In lieu of complex acute care experience, at least 6 years of CDI experience and/or other relevant clinical experience may be considered.

    PA: Requires at least 3 years Physician Assistant experience in a similarly complex acute care setting. Minimum of 5 years as a Clinical Documentation Specialist preferred. In lieu of complex acute care experience, at least 7 years of CDI experience and/or other relevant clinical experience may be considered.

    RHIA: Requires minimum of 3 years with acute inpatient coding experience. Minimum of 5 years as a Clinical Documentation Specialist preferred. In lieu of acute inpatient coding, at least 7 years of CDI experience and/or relevant clinical experience may be considered.




Salary Range: Minimum 48.35 per hour - Maximum 84.62 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
