College of Health Professions and Sciences, TATS (Technical Assistance and Training System for Programs Serving Young Children with Disabilities):

The University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Health Professions and Sciences (CHPS) is home to nationally recognized programs focused on health and wellness - and a respected faculty dedicated to teaching innovations and research partnerships. The college offers accredited programs in athletic training, communication sciences and disorders, physical therapy, and social work. CHPS also offers one of UCF's largest majors, health sciences, as well as popular programs in sport and exercise science within the field of kinesiology. Through coursework, field experience, and inter-professional education, our students develop high-demand skills in healthcare and cultural competency for working with varied populations.

The Technical Assistance and Training System (TATS) is an IDEA Funded State Project that provides technical assistance and training to programs that serve children with disabilities, from Pre-K 3-5 years old.

The Opportunity:

TATS is seeking well-qualified candidates for a Training Specialist I position. This position will provide in-person and virtual technical assistance, training, and support to School district Pre-K coordinators for programs serving prekindergarten children with disabilities, and other early childhood partners. The support will include but is not limited to the following: State Performance Indicators/Annual Performance Report related to Part B Prekindergarten, curriculum and instruction, evaluation and assessment, family involvement, least restrictive environment, program effectiveness, Part C to Part B transition, and transition to kindergarten.

This position supports the Northwest Central (NWC) region of Florida which includes the following counties:

Franklin, Jefferson, Gadsden, Hamilton, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Taylor, Wakulla (area may be adjusted in the new Grant Year according to need).

This is a Contract and Grant (C&G) funded position. Employment is subject to availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.

Responsibilities:


  • Coordinate efforts across districts and regions to facilitate communication and collaboration among district Pre-K ESE contacts and other early childhood partners (including Part C to Part B Inter-agency meetings).

  • Provide (in-person and virtual) technical assistance, training, and information to Pre-K ESE programs and early childhood partners, including but not limited to developmentally appropriate practices, quality Pre-K programming, Child Outcomes Measurement/Child Outcome Summary (COS), and inclusion of young children with disabilities into programs with their typically developing peers.

  • Work to develop and maintain viable inter-agency agreements to support the transition process for young children with disabilities regarding the transition from Part C to Part B, and child outcomes measurement and other early childhood initiatives.

  • Convening Regional Steering Committee meetings to share local, regional, and statewide information on Pre-K ESE program initiatives, including SPP Indicators, develop collaborative relationships among Committee members, and share evidence-based best practices.

  • Assist districts in developing district or regional-level support plans related to the district/region implementation of IDEA, State Strategic Plan for Pre-K, and emerging issues and/or challenges faced by classroom teachers or district staff. Evaluating the support plan process, and reporting on the impact of the changes made as a result of implementing the support.

  • Attend and present at district, regional, or state conferences when requested by leadership, stakeholders, or sponsors.

  • Participate in monthly planning calls.

  • Complete Project Tracking system updates on a daily/weekly basis and complete workday activities related to travel reimbursement and other tasks as necessary, on a timely basis.

  • The Project Director provides ongoing supervision via e-mail, conference calls, or face-to-face meetings.

  • Daily contact with the public facilitating meetings and projects, providing technical assistance and training, developing action plans, and problem-solving with individuals at the district, regional, and state levels.

  • Ability to work independently (self-directed) and collaboratively with school districts, early childhood agencies, and other TATS team members.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 0+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience of at least 2 years in an administrative role within the early intervention/early childhood special education field.

  • Experience providing training and technical assistance to teachers, agency personnel, and other early childhood special education professionals.

  • Hands-on experience with the Child Outcomes Summary (COS) process including participating in the rating process.
