Job Description

Job title: Quality Assurance Technician
BG/BU: AFNA- Amcor Flexibles North America
Location: AF Yuba City
Job family: Operations
Reports to (Title): Production Manger

1. Job Overview

Perform visual and precision dimensional inspections of raw materials, work in process, and finished goods for surface defects, general workmanship, and dimensional tolerances per specifications.

2. Job Dimensions

* Document inspection results in predefined formats, maintaining easily retrievable information according to system rules.
* Conduct product inspection to visually inspect and monitor equipment and process conditions to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures.
* Train new testers in the area. Reinforce the safety and environmental principles of the area and ensure the new tester follows the standard operating procedures.
* Be alert for safety concerns and report any incidents or near misses that may affect Safety, Health, or the Environment
* Acquire and continuously update knowledge of operations and equipment, instrumentation, operation processes, etc.
* Communicate within the quality department and other groups to ensure Maintenance and Operators are kept up to date with what occurred during the shift and plans for addressing issues.
* Verify calibration of measuring and test equipment and instruments in accordance with procedures

* Strong capacity for maintaining attention to detail throughout the shift.
* Ability to prioritize appropriately.
* Familiarity with plant manufacturing processes
* Ability to communicate well with internal and external customer.
* Willingness to build knowledge and skills and share expertise with others, focusing on educating shop personnel in the proper quality control procedures.
* Proficiency in giving and welcoming feedback; putting the success of the team above own interests; supporting everyone's' efforts to succeed.
* Alert for ways to improve and promote quality.
* Overall accuracy and thoroughness; knowledge of the quality system
* Dedication to treating people with respect, keeping commitments, working with integrity, and ethically upholding organizational values.
* Adaptable to changes in the work environment, and easily able to deal with frequent changes or unexpected events.
* Consistently at work, meetings, and appointments on time
* Demonstrated ability to work with computer systems used at site including electronic training systems, shop floor software, MS Office, SAP, etc.
* Basic presentation skills to demonstrate the lab equipment and quality processes during customer visits and audits.

* Ability to present a professional image while conducting onsite inspections or surveys at vendor's or customers locations and assisting in on-site customer audits.
* Troubleshooting skills to assist in implementing solutions to resolve corrective actions.

6. Qualifications/Requirements
6.1 Formal Qualifications and Experience

Knowledge and Experience
* Minimum of 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment with responsibility for quality products

Education and Certifications
* HS diploma or equivalent
6.2 Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Behaviours

Job Specific skills and abilities
* Vision requirements of the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus to perform all functions safely.
* Ability to read/see/visually discriminate up to 1/16 of an inch.
* Must have the ability to distinguish color, must pass a color blindness test.

Compensation:
* The starting rate of pay for this position is $19.50 an hour; however, starting pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
