Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities

The Aireon Internship Program is an opportunity for students to be a part of the Aireon teams that are making groundbreaking advancements in global air traffic surveillance. As an Intern, you'll begin making an impact on real projects from day one! Come prepared to grow, develop, and learn alongside a team and the leaders of our company.The Aireon Internshipprogram is a 12-week program that runs from May 27, 2025, to August 15, 2025. During the program, interns will have the opportunity to provide valuable support to an Aireon department on a project or important work assignment. Interns will also be provided an opportunity to engage with senior leadership and fellow interns through regular engagement activities.

The Security/IT Intern will learn to monitor, report, and mitigate cyber threats utilizing security tools and procedures. Intern will focus on improving policies and procedures surrounding Aireon environments with a focus on Risk Management, Threat Intelligence, and Incident Response. Intern will analyze internal systems and applications with a high priority on learning policies and procedures. Intern will be expected to learn quickly and ask questions often.

What You'll Do

    Learn basic knowledge of SIEM tools including, Netspi, Microsoft Defender, Azure, etc.
  • Assist CISO and ISSO with monitoring security environments within Aireon.
  • Contribute with security governance, risk, and compliance procedures.
  • Write and present risk assessments for CISO and CTO based on vulnerabilities to Aireon Systems.
  • Collect information during incident response and assist with documentation of incident.

Experience & Education Requirements / EEO

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a bachelor's or graduate degree program at an accredited academic institution.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Must be at least a rising junior.
  • Must be willing to come into the office 3 days a week.
  • Ideally have an interest in cyber or IT work.

About the Team

  • The security/IT team is composed of 6 individuals working closely with the engineering team and IPT. Most members of the team are in the office 3 days a week with 2 days working remotely. The team communicates often via Teams or email when not in the office. All 6 team members meet every day at 3pm for a daily standup meeting to go over any blockers or questions.
