What success looks like in this role:
Job Summary:
We are looking for a dependable and technically skilled Field Engineer to provide break-fix support for enterprise clients, focusing on server infrastructure as well as end-user devices including desktops and laptops. The ideal candidate will respond to hardware and software issues on-site, ensuring minimal disruption to client operations and high customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform on-site diagnostics, repairs, and replacements of server hardware (rack-mounted, blade, tower servers) and related components. Troubleshoot and repair desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices across a wide range of enterprise hardware and software environments. Respond to break-fix service calls and incidents within defined SLAs and document all work accurately. Conduct hardware swaps, part replacements, and system reimages as per client standards. Provide professional customer service while on client premises.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Strong hands-on experience with server hardware (e.g., Dell PowerEdge, HPE ProLiant, Lenovo ThinkSystem). Solid break-fix experience with desktops, laptops, and common peripherals (printers, docking stations, etc.). Familiarity with common operating systems (Windows Server, Windows 10/11) and BIOS/firmware troubleshooting. Ability to read and follow technical documentation and service manuals. Effective communication skills and professionalism in client-facing situations. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regularly.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Server+, Dell EMC, HPE ASE, or Lenovo Certified Technician. Experience working in field service or break-fix roles for enterprise clients. Familiarity with IT service ticketing platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, ConnectWise).
