The final salary will depend on the candidate's qualifications. Those with 8 years or more of required experience can expect offers up to the midpoint of the salary range. Metra provides full pay ranges so candidates can consider their growth potential.

As a Signal Engineer 4, you will:

  • Design and Innovate: Develop intricate technical drawings, calculations, and cost estimates for large-scale signal and crossing systems, adhering to codes and regulations.
  • Problem Solve: Investigate and resolve malfunctions in signal systems, identifying root causes and implementing solutions to enhance performance.
  • Lead and Guide: Act as a subject matter expert, supporting field personnel and engineers with intricate circuit designs and troubleshooting.
  • Evaluate and Approve: Research and evaluate materials, ensuring they meet Metra's quality standards, and review consultant designs, budgets, and specifications for compliance and efficiency.
  • Collaborate and Deliver: Prepare scopes of services and detailed specifications for contracts, negotiate changes, and ensure projects align with Metra's goals.
Requirements
  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or a related discipline.
  2. Experience: At least six years of signal design or related experience.
  3. Knowledge & Skills:
    • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical engineering design, construction principles, and techniques.
    • Familiarity with electrical engineering materials, components, and applicable laws, regulations, and codes.
    • Advanced skills in CAD and other engineering applications.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to lead projects, manage consultants, and negotiate solutions.
  4. Licenses: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license

Preferred:

  1. Programming experience in languages such as C++, C#, or Visual Basic, with knowledge of digital logic, Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), or microcontrollers. Experience with MicroStation.
