Join us as our new Quality Assurance Specialist

This position reports to the Quality Manager and is responsible for compliance of operational quality systems, training and leading ad hoc problem-solving teams for prevention of reoccurring deviations.

In this role you'll make a difference by:




  • Assistingwith the administration of the QMS document control processes and systems.




    • Facilitatingthe life cycle of controlled documents in the electronic or manual document management system (document creation, revision, archival, retention and withdrawal/retirement).



    • Monitoringcompliance with the document control procedures and requirements and follows up on corrections.



    • Reviewingrecords to ensure compliance with applicable SOPs, accreditation standards, and regulations.



    • Assistingwith HACCP/FSMA record review.



    • Identifyingand implementingimprovements to the current processes.



    • SupportingNonconformance Reporting (NCR) system and ensure adequate corrective actions are implemented within an acceptable timeframe.



    • Leadingand supportingproblem-solving sessions.



    • Managingnonconformance system and ensures proper root cause and corrective action are documented.



    • Verifyingcompliance of change management process/system.





  • Act as a key contact at the site for day-to-day issue resolution and quality support for operations, participating in daily production meetings and supporting sitewide training.



  • Participatingin and supportingexternal and internal audits including GMP, Glass and Brittle Plastic audits. Conducting food safety assessments of production processes.



  • Assistingwith customer complaint investigations, customer complaint data review, and monitoring complaint activity. Preparation of customer complaint communication, which will be reviewed by the Supervisor.



  • Developingand ensuringimplementation of local procedures and training tools in collaboration with the Quality Manager to align with global policies and positions.



  • Collaboratingwith Quality Manager to ensure quality and food safety systems support business needs.



  • Ability to effectively collaborate and work with others outside of the Quality Operations department.



  • Assistingin CCP/OPRP/Preventive control validations.

  • Ability to read, write and speak English



  • Ability to work effectively in a team, displaying trust and rapport building skills.



  • Self-motivated with the ability to perform independently and learn independently.



  • Possess a strong level of project management skills.



  • High adaptability, with the ability to work independently and act as a self-starter.



  • Ability to communicate in oral and written form effectively and succinctly to all levels (Operator to Executive) of the organization, as well as outside contractors.



  • Possess a working knowledge of the manufacturing process and good business acumen.



  • Skilled in facilitation and coaching methods to achieve results through others.



  • Time management skills and ability to work under strict deadlines. Ability to multi-task and organize work, looking for ways to become more efficient in completing tasks.



  • Ability to explain, build and motivate change across the organization.



  • Possess a working knowledge in Microsoft Office programs as well as statistical tools and software. SAP experience is a plus.



  • Possess a working knowledge of HACCP, manufacturing processes, production technology, products, raw materials quality and food safety, local and global food safety legislation, and regulations.



  • Possess working knowledge of continuous improvement principles, food safety and quality assurance systems.



  • Knowledge of products, raw materials and quality and food safety programs.



  • Ability to multi-task and organize work, looking for ways to become more efficient in completing tasks.



  • If not PCQI certified, willingness to obtain certification.



  • These characteristics are normally acquired through a Bachelor's in a scientific discipline with three to five years of experience working in a food safety or quality environment and related experience in a Lean/Six Sigma manufacturing environment.
