Add to favorites Favorited View favorites Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $74,200 - Midpoint: $100,200 (Salaried E12) Department/Organization: 504107 - Facility Custodial Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm Job Summary: The Director of Custodial Services oversees the administration and operation of all activities related to the delivery of high quality custodial service for approximately 200 academic, administrative, and residential buildings for a total of 6 million gross square feet on the main campus of The University of Alabama. Directs Custodial Services activities including budget preparation and administration, personnel staffing, procurement of supplies and equipment. Develops and implements effective staff development programs. Plans and coordinates custodial cleaning activities with academic, administrative, and Housing Residential Community units. Provides custodial support for special events. Oversees preparation of custodial contract specifications. Additional Department Summary: The Director of Custodial Services coordinates with campus committees and departments on safety and sanitation issues, policies, procedures, and training. Serves as a subject matter expert on the topic of environmental sanitation and disinfection. Keeps current knowledge of State and Federal guidelines from agencies such as EPA, CDC, and public health departments. Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and eight (8) years of experience in a supervisory role with custodial services; OR master's degree and six (6) years of experience in a supervisory role with custodial services. Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher and a minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience to include some experience with managing custodial operations; OR Associate's degree and a minimum of nine (9) years of progressively responsible experience to include some experience with managing custodial operations; OR High school diploma or GED and a minimum of eleven (11) years of progressively responsible experience to include some experience with managing custodial operations. Skills and Knowledge: Demonstrated leadership skills in managing organizations with over 150 employees. Ability to manage a budget over $4 million/year or more. Proven ability to work with various customer requirements to determine effective solutions to housekeeping or maintenance needs. Ability to impart quality and customer service principles to the organization. Excellent human relations skills and the ability to develop multi-functional teams. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and solve problems in an environment with a large employee population. Ability to formulate and interpret policy and procedures to meet organizational goals and objectives. Must have personal computer skills to include effectively working with standard software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases, e-mail and experience with web-based resources. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in custodial operations in a higher education setting.
