Job Overview:

The Manufacturing Engineer will develop, improve, and implement processes and programs that reduce material consumption and waste disposal costs while continuing to improve quality and operational efficiencies. Creates and maintains process documentation such as PFMEAs, work instructions, process flows, operation quality checks, and electro-mechanical drawings.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the Manufacturing Engineer include the following job duties. The responsibilities are not limited to these tasks.


  • Suggests, evaluates, implements & manages multiple manufacturing projects of a large scope from beginning to end.

  • Controls and reduces plant expenses

  • Implements cost effective manufacturing - taking marketing wants, design engineering requirements and overlaying this on existing capacities and capabilities to arrive at a cost-effective workable process.

  • Document what is normal state and then be able to identify actions to correct abnormal conditions.

  • Evaluates and oversees current and prospective manufacturing processes.

  • Evaluates production capacities (capital recommendations).

  • Implements capital equipment including evaluation, selection, run-offs, and implementation.

  • Maintains current knowledge base of "best" industry manufacturing practices including lean manufacturing, Demand Flow Technology, Statistical Process Control and other techniques.

  • Maintains knowledge base of latest machine tool technologies.

  • Possess and utilizes strong methodical problem-solving skills to drive to the root cause and implement sustainable corrective actions.

  • Partner with procurement organization on NPD projects and other supplier related investments and programs.

  • Ensures compliance
    with ISO 9001 procedures.


  • Drive lean transformation by eliminating waste.

  • Works as part of the Change Management Team in the introduction of new products and processes.

  • Implements product changes and process changes on the production floor related to risk elimination, cost improvement projects, production demand, workstation design, material presentation, etc.

  • Partner with the Operations team to drive root cause and corrective actions for issues pertaining to safety, quality, and customer delivery driving the implementation
    - Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering Fundamentals.


  • Review plant layouts and update drawings accordingly.

  • Applies knowledge of engineering principles and practices on safety and ergonomic improvements.

  • Performs line balances, capacity analysis, time studies, labor costing.

  • Identify safety hazards and initiate follow-up actions with associates to implement solutions regarding production line safety issues.



Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering required.

  • Minimum of 5 years related experience. Expertise in a similar manufacturing environment is preferred.

  • Must have experience with equipment specification, project management
    and manufacturing processes.


  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing (Kaizen, 5S, Standard Work, Poke-Yoke, Value Stream Mapping, etc.).

  • Solid understanding of plant assembly processes and overall business operations.

  • Experience with CAD is preferred.

  • Ability to approach a problem or situation that has not been previously encountered, gather information, make assessments, devise several options, recommend and implement the best option to deal with the issue.

  • Strong analytical ability to solve issues such as: manufacturing problems and dimensional or calculation errors.

  • Ability to prioritize/re-prioritize tasks and carry out root cause analysis.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders including plant personnel, management, and external customers.

  • Advanced understanding of machine tool operation.

  • Competent in advanced blue-print reading including geometric tolerancing and dimensioning.

  • Ability to work independently to gather data from appropriate groups in order to develop original process/equipment designs or create modifications to existing process/equipment after having been given general information on the product(s) to be assembled.



Preferences:


  • Bachelor's Degree required

  • Proficient in diagnosing manufacturing issues and developing strategic solutions that deliver impactful results.

  • Solid manufacturing process expertise and plant assembly process knowledge.



Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements


  • This position is based on-site with minimal anticipated travel.
